Cheering the filth...

They tried a few cheap shots today so it's hard to commend them for sportsmanship.

Wellingham driving his knees into Stoke's back while lying prostrate on the ground was a dog act and Cloke's behind play hit on Lonergan was nasty.

+1

I sure hope someone finds the past highlights and stupid over celebrations by Thomas, Didak and Krakouer. The way Didak was doing that idiotic shimmy celebration after kicking a snap goal against a Port Adelaide or Gold Coast Suns.
Dale Thomas with his stupid tongue hanging out of his mouth after kicking a miracle goal and of course the great jail bird Krakouer with his gratitude toward his inmates and the now infamous wrist sign:thumbsdown:

Their fans have been ringing up the call stations all year giving it to everyone and today is a day they crawl back into holes and look forward to finding employment over the summer break.

You serious?!
They played us a lot fairer than a lot of other teams did.
I would rather a game against them than the cheating Hawks any day.
Hard game, hard play, fair in the end.

Great game pies, you were a fair adversary!!

Great team to be against in a grand final
Exactly, Vivien, Collingwood's a very good side and a formidable opponent - there were moments when I thought they were about the break the game right open. The two best teams of the year faced off, just as it should be. Great game and commiserations (we know how it feels, after all).

GO CATS!!!!! :thumbsu: :thumbsu:

didn't you see Kelly on Kerr in the prelim, but anyway congrats to Geelong one of the great teams in VFL/AFL history:thumbsu:

Stuff that. Next time they're in that situation in the last quarter I'd like to see McGuire's mug in a little screen of its own for the remainder of the game.

I feel for the Pies - as today was their ' 2008 '. So dominate for so long in the H & A and then to lose it when it counts. Hard to forget those losses - so I see no need to sink the boots in.

Respect Malthouse and for him a very ordinary way to leave a club he gave so much to.

Looking at their list I would expect them to be in the finals for the foreseeable future.

Ultimately, great teams will be measured on the opposition they beat to climb the mountain. And by beating the 2009 St Kilda and 2011 Collingwood, Geelong has beaten two of the best teams ever that were unable to win the premiership.

We did beat the Hawks in the H&A in 2008. I think that weakens that comparison.

For all of the Pie's dominance this year, to have a 0/3 record against the eventual premier, doesn't help their otherwise legitimate claim for being 'best of the year'.

fair point...you have the bragging rights. Just goes to show how hard it is to go back to back - even the mighty Catters couldn't do it (you'll get your chance in 2012)

Collingwood are a good team .... perhaps even great. Credit to them for their year... Their success and performance makes our achievements that much better...

No one gave us a chance..... except us...

But we are the Greatest Team of All.....

and we have the numbers and Flags to prove it....

Go Catters!

You have to be humble winners in my book -i can remember 1992 when we led 6 goals to 2 in 2nd qtr and got overun -never been as despondent after a game .

I think both Geelong and Collingwood are great for the comp . Us because of the style of football we play -its so exciting to watch -Walls said after the game -week in week out Geelong are by far the best team to watch . And Collingwood with their army of supporters -80000 to most of their home games-and how their portrayed as them against the rest .

What makes our win so special (sorry Bruce) is we beat a Heavyweight yesterday in Collingwood FC. all due respect to Power and Saints there light weights compared to Collingwood

Well done Catters climbed up from the floor and rose above circumstances that might have sent a lesser club plummeting to the cellar. Geelong had the year this year that Pies had last year and vice a versa.

I've never said the Cats were under achievers over their recent reign but surely this win denies any claim that they are under achievers. Clearly the most enjoyable team to watch in the league at the moment. Special mention to big Tom, sensational game from him today, tore us apart.

Now that the interminable coaching b/s is over I expect the Pies to refocus and come again. Thanks for a fantastic grand final Cats and look out for us next year.

Do you think there would be thread from Pies supporters if the result went the other way?

No chance.
