We're having no luck with our forward line this preseason.

Didak and Macaffer are down with injury and Krakouer is off sorting out his issues.

I think all three would be starters in the 22 so it puts a real dent in our forward line.

What it does do is open opportunities for other players to establish themselves in the team.

Who do you think will be filling the void?

Has Yagmoor tried forward? good rover, great kick.

Fasolo will fill one spot, elliot in the other perhaps. Krak hopefully will be back early

Unless we get more major injuries before round 1, I don't think we'll have any kids in that position.

We have plenty of options, with a plethora of senior half backs who could play forward if needed.

Fasolo has to stay there short term, he is automatically in our best 22 IMO, and then it's hard to fit anyone else in really.

Having said that, could we go big with Dawes, Cloke and Wood playing the Leigh Brown role, especially against the terrible Hawks and Tigers backlines early on.

To be honest, he'll probably be "replaced" by someone else who was borderline best-22 and doesn't really come in as an obvious like-for-like replacement. Physically, our best match would probably be Jackson Paine.

Could give a Kid like Paine a Early Shot
I doubt it, unless he significantly improves in the first half of the season in the VFL.

I wouldn't mind Ceglar though, I really liked what I saw today. Yagmoor and Williams could also be decent up forward, and don't forget Marty Clarke.

Plus we already have a rotation of small forwards/midfielders in mainly Fasolo, Beams and Sidebottom.

We don't have an amazing small forward (and have we ever had one post Forward Davis) but it could also provide a chance for one in the making.

Talls - Cloke, Dawes, occasional resting Jolly/Wood
Smalls - Didak, Beams, Sidebottom, Blair, Krakouer, Fasolo
+ Resting Pendlebury/Swan/D.Thomas

That doesn't even count Ugle, Elliott, Paine, etc

Millions of options.

The club sounds fairly keen to give Elliott a run as well. Macaffer is obviously a fair bit taller however.

Is this Elliot bloke even any good? People just make judgements before he even pulls on the black and white stripes. What were his stats at TAC level? Kick many goals? He would want to have for the hype that is around him and the amount of times he gets mentioned. Fairly big step up.

All that matters is that the coaching staff rate him. He applies a lot of pressure, is a good overhead mark for his size and is quick.

and is very much like Paul Medhurst

I think Goldy showed enough tonight to maybe persists with up forward, might take the Caff role.

Sinclair will be given a shot if Didak and Krak don't get back in time. Fasolo to cement his spot beside Blair.

Meaning Dids and Krak are going to have to work hard to get back, which is exactly how we want it.

Swan is too good as a goal kicking mid already.

M.Clarke is a perfect fit to play a HF role. In Ireland he was playing an equivalent role of the AFL CHF, his size enable him to be the a key forward target. Obviously in the AFL this is not possible, but he would be a brilliant HF option, he has a great kick, good speed and endurance...and he WANTS to be the finisher. A very important aspect of being a forward, you need people who relish the responsibility of kicking the goals....guys like B.Holland, Didak love kicking a goal and their confidence helps make them good shots.

M.Clarke as a HF please.

Marty Clarke needs the play to unfold in front of him, and has poor awareness. As a forward he'd be a liability.

If we are moving defenders yagmoor would be the better fit.

For mine I'd keep rotating Elliott, ugle and Fasolo through the position.

18 games (2 seasons) for 34 goals. In the best 9 times.

Ever since we recruited Elliot I've liked the sound of him.
They're fairly good stats.
Averaging about 2 goals a game is handy.
I've heard he is good over head and also applies a lot of forward pressure, which is so important for a small forward in todays game.
I like the bit about being included in the best in 9 out of his 18 games.

No of fence but 2 goals per game in TAC prob = 0.2 goals per game in AFL.

He'd be a presence in the forward line but not much else for the first couple of years.

So what I'm saying is we'd be relying on him for for his forward pressure than anything else, etc goal kicking + marking.

So the equivalent of 2 goals per game at AFL level is 10 goals a game at TAC level?

Don't see too many people kicking 180 goals a year at TAC level...

TAC Cup is all about preparation for the next level, playing all positions, learning structures, etc, etc. Not many players average 2 goals a game at that level.
