mixed feelings about a farewell game. on one hand you can say it shouldn't be much trouble to give him one more game. but, isn't letting him make a 5 from 25 in his last game cruel in its own way?
reckon the players might be a bit flat in hobart. but there are other ways to say farewell.

If it results in him retiring from all forms it's the wrong move from all concerned IMO.
Ah well, we may never see a better Aussie batsman in our lifetime, saying i've seen all of McGrath, Warne, Gilchrist and Ponting's careers is pretty good I reckon.Nah, crap.
The second best bat we've ever produced, and a guy who has been such a committed and passionate player and captain, deserves more than the indignity of being dropped like this.
The w***ers should've given him the rest of the series - Id care more about seeing Punter play his last ODIs than I do about this entire series.
I hope he goes on in Test matches
So he was made captain again in Clarke's absence... then he was dropped altogether soon afterwards.

Other test specialists like Cowan (and previously blokes like Langer) usually play cricket abroad in the off-season. The only current test specialist I can think of that doesn't have a county to play for this winter would be Peter Siddle - which leads me to wonder what he'll be doing all winter?
Yeah don't get that at all to be honest...![]()
Fairly straight forward, he can captain with his eyes shut, other option was oen of the Husseys (who are also old, and haven't been captains) or a young guy playing in whose played what, 20 ODI's? and hasn't been a state captain.
Hasn't Siddle been training with Carlton over winter these last couple of years, or was that just a one off thing?
