Sydney Swans (playing this weekend in case you missed it) say hi.

Our two ruckman don't though.

Hamish is very expensive ruck depth. He is 28 and with his history of leg problems, probably only has another couple of seasons (if that) at the top level. I think if a team like Geelong or Collingwood comes in and offers him a first ruck position, we wouldn't stand in his way.

I don't think we'll actively shop him but I think he will go.

Hale, Gibson and pick 52 for Harper, Mabon, Black and Kennedy. I know the DoS trolling version includes Bastinac but it's a creative interpretation only.

Other than Harper we haven't proven anything yet. Hawks have plugged 2 big holes in their list.

Btw these trades all occured under Scott's watch not Dean's.

I know it was the current decision makers who got those trades done. which is what I meant. I think the current lot have shown that they know what they're doing.
Black, Harper, Kennedy and Mabon than Gibson and Hale? Not even close imo. Hale would be playing for Ballarat and Gibson would be the same player (unable to actually play on anyone, short and a knobhead) just not so overrated.

Talk of trading Hamish for Gillies, Simpson, Orren etc is laughable. The only trade I'd entertain would be something involving Mitch Duncan, that is not going to happen so move along please.

There are other players on the Geelong list I would happily take outside of Duncan.

Are you suggesting we would trade picks 14 and 15 to get Caddy?
No, was speculating that rather than helping Geelong secure Caddy that it might help us if we got their compo pick to on-trade which those on the D&T board reckon might have greater currency than picks 11-14.

Still does not address the question under debate here, re our own ruck stocks.

I would tell them to go **** themselves if the GC wanted that.

'Go forth and fornicate yourself with an iron rod' is the exact terminology I would use.

:(, now I know what its like to be cyber bullied, Not as bad as they make it out to be on ACA, FWIW i think Joffa would be a better supporter
Nah, that wasn't cyber bullying at all, I don't think.
Cyber bullying would be if Teffie told you that you're fat, ugly and worthless, and he wished for you to die. I think that's how it works anyway. But don't worry, this is a pretty friendly place most of the time. ;)

He does need to fill out but that's all he needs to do. Has a lot of ability and doesn't mind putting his body in either.

Ben has a great skill set and coordination for a big bloke. Moves well also.

I just can't see him finding another 20kgs in weight. He doesn't have a particularly good leap either, so the weight issue is crucial.

I have a lot more faith in Majak improving by 10-20% than Ben finding another 20kgs inside the next 2 years.

KPD is the only other option I see for Ben and at 200cm he is slightly disadvantaged for that role as well.

Who is crying?

I fail to see how ignoring someone constitutes cyber bullying.

There is no doubt that we need 2 AFL capable rucks on the list next year. What i want to see is a more flexible approach where those rucks do not possess the same constraints around the ground, and the same selection pressure.
The 2nd ruckman plays in the seniors if there is a need, but alternatively we use a Pederson type (would rather not trade) if more mobility is required.
There is no doubt North felt pressure to play Hamish and Goldy early in the season, which forced desperate ideas like playing Goldy at CHB.

If North are sure they can bring in a up-and-coming AFL ruckman who will develop and perform in-and-out of the seniors, then I have no problem with trading Hamish so he can get more opportunities. He deserves it.
At his age he won't likely be there for our true premiership window. While i do understand the concept of needing quality players in order to open this window, if we can bolster our midfield as a result of this trade with an eye to our premiership window, then I believe this more than compensates. Even without Hamish there is no doubt we will have a window of opportunity.

Without understanding the entire trading strategy of the club this year no-one can make an informed judgement on whether trading Hamish is optimal for our success next year. I will just sit back and have faith that the football department/recruiting staff that are on track to form a strong playing list, capable of premierships in 3-4 years, know what they are doing.

is stefan martin leaving the dees ???

Apparently, to be honest I wouldn't mind a Pedo Martin straight swap. He was very decent last year. Friends with Goldy too with Basketball background. Also it would please me no end to see the Pies miss out on both utilities available.

Agree Hard_to_Beat they won't be trading any best 22 material. Having said that if they come knocking and Hamish is keen to leave - the ball is firmly in our court. Can't see it happening though to be honest.

B-but DAWSON SIMPSON.

What's the old saying? Never trust someone with two last names? Or is it the other way around?

I thought it was never trust someone with two first names, ie. John Anthony.

KPD is the only other option I see for Ben and at 200cm he is slightly disadvantaged for that role as well.

Would dispute that too - I know that's what is printed in the stats guides. Just doesn't look it.

Ben has the other issue playing small. Has neat footskills but not convinced about his tapping and overhead work. As you say, maybe a KP for him if he really shows solid development in the next year.

Can't see him as an AFL ruck myself. Unless there's a sale on d-bol.
