Pretty important, but Mitch Brown isn't the only available key back you know
I think they know what they're prepared to offer. Just up to West Coast to play nice.Any others you are linked to. Your interest has been rumoured for over a week now. Must have made an offer to him to get him to come out and ask to be traded. Can only imagine Saints have earmarked what they would be required to offer.

To be honest, St Kilda have probably only expressed this much interest in Brown because of Cripps wanting to go to West Coast. A "two birds with one stone" situation is being sought out, by the looks of it.
If, for example, West Coast would want a first round pick at minimum for Brown (as some posters are suggesting), then the Saints would be better off trading a bit extra to try to get Frawley, who isn't injury prone and has shown a great deal more than Brown so far. Frawley has allegedly shown interest in joining the Saints on a similar deal.
St Kilda seem to only be into Brown this much due to the circumstances they've found themselves in; not because he is the best option.

Haven't thought about that.
What's the reason why Brown wants to go to St Kilda and St Kilda only?

Play nice as in be realistic. You can do right by Brown, accept a good offer from us (Cripps + pick 40ish) and cut your ties with him.Us play nice, What do you mean? You think we should just shoot ourselves in the foot to benefit the Saints.
How about the Saints play nice and offer there first pick to make it happen.

Or you can flat out refuse/ask for something ridiculous, hold on to Brown and hope he is somehow not pissed off enough to ask to be traded again from playing 7 seasons in the reserves.

Or Watters knows the twin and thinks a copy of that would suit us so saints approach a contracted player, then saints supporters say be nice?Twin Nathan recommended Scott Waters as a quality person / Coach and the fact that Saints need Tall defenders evidently .

Obviously it's not set in stone, our second rounder is pick 34 so that plus Cripps would be more likelyCripps and pick 40 is far from a good offer.
That's the kind of rubbish offer you'd expect if he was out of contract.
If we're going to get shafted with a fringe flanker and a pick we probably won't use I'd rather keep Brown for another year as backup and take the risk of copping a similar trade when he's uncontracted.

Massive underrating of Cripps on this board, I wish he wasn't leaving.
Of course you would - question is, does your club want to keep someone on their list that just doesn't want to be there? They may, but most clubs aren't happy with that. Disheartened players at your club that you have forced to stay against their will aren't really going to help you, and I'd be shocked if your club didn't realise that. So, as much as he's contracted, I think that reduces this amazing bargaining position you're all talking about because of his contract.
In the end, I'm not sure if the deal will get done. But time will tell.
I agree, and this is quite funny, as I've used the same arguement with the Wellingham scenario (ie. why would Melbourne use a draft pick on Wellingham when he has categorically said he doesn't want to be there), and everyone is under the impression he would be worth the risk...Of course you would - question is, does your club want to keep someone on their list that just doesn't want to be there?
