Is there anything to suggest that the 'one other player' actually did whatever it was that led to the investigation while at his current club? If not, could be Sam Lonergan or Angus Monfries. I hope it's not Angus.

That Essendon asked for once it found it was being investigated by ASADA & the ACC no doubt. Naive much.

AFL denies Crime Commission report prompted investigation into Essendon

THE investigation into use of supplements at Essendon was not prompted by the release of a wide-ranging Australian Crime Commission (ACC) report, AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou says.

"The Essendon story came about because the football club approached the AFL in recent days and asked the AFL and ASADA to conduct an investigation because they were being asked certain questions by people, including the media, and the chairman took it upon himself to ask various people around the club and then came to the AFL," said Demetriou.

As far as facts are concerned, the Essendon investigation was a self initiated investigation, with the request for the AFL and ASADA to become involved in helping it move forward. As such, both this investigation, as well as a target-tested investigation initiated by the ACC at another club, makes up what we have now.

Whether or not you choose to hold opinion over matter, that is your own problem to deal with.

If the reported 6 NRL clubs are true, then it is in fat a very dark day in Australian sport. It was parts of the AFL media probably fuelled by places like BF that had every second AFL implicated.

Headlines sell, keeping a lid on things until we know more facts does not.

If it's proven that the EFC has breached anti-doping regulations en-masse, then we can add this to their status as the only club to have been found guilty of cheating the salary cap during a premiership year and conclude that they're the dirtiest club in VFL/AFL history.

Pretty much guaranteed. Rumours are never wrong. It would seem Fremantle or any other team would be derelict in their duty if they were to pursue him as a free agent at year end.
