Quite spooky actually. Plucked a random number out at the time and how after you say I realise it is his jumper number.

Supernatural I betetr call the X-Files T.V Show

Seriously? Ah, classic

Well, the board should they seek justification.

You think carnthedons is concerned about justifying selections to the board?

We've seen the reverse of this with Reimers and Jetta. TRB value players that contribute to the system as a whole. When they can't do it they don't get games even if their performances as individuals are good.

My thoughts on Gumbleton have been fairly consistent through-out and I still hold them.

A) Injuries have meant that he has not produced what we expected/needed from a top 2 pick
B) Irrespective of whether or not he now turns it around, he has lost 6 years of development that others around him have had
C) I don't see how Gumbleton fits long term with Hurley, Crameri and JD coming through
D) I thought Gumbleton has always shown glimpses however never to the level or consistency I would expect from pick 2.
E) I think Gumbleton is seriously over-hyped on this board.

I'm happy to stand by my opinions eth-dog and put them in black and white WHILST also respecting the views of those around me. However it shows how desperate you are in your dogged defence of Melksham that you would introduce my views on another 50/50 player as evidence.

As a side note, I have seen Gumby play 2 nice games this year and the others were average to below average. Gumby still struggles for long periods in games and looks terrible below his knees. That is not to say I don't think he has some excellent qualities and I am hoping he gets an extended run at it. I had NO problem eating humble pie and congratulating Gumby on his performances earlier this year. It's a shame you don't bother to actually read or engage in reality.

Awkward...this is meant to be the Jake Melksham board........

Sorry missed that bit. all good carry on....

*grabs coke and second bucket of popcorn*

It's being way greedy, but if either Melksham or Jetta could come good this year our midfield would a fearsome thing... Kind of the final piece of the puzzle

You're carrying on like anyone who suggests he should potentially be dropped is a moron.
To be fair, you did the same with Stanton a few years back.

And yes, I know, big difference in their outputs.. still.

Maybe eth-dog actually is JAKE MELKSHAM, has anyone considered this?
Can confirm this is not the case.

Ethan has better awareness and second efforts.

On a side note, the Jake Melksham board is now the 2nd highest commented (trailing the Gumby board)

Who can honestly say they've ever seen both of them in the same room?

Stanton hasn't been in the 20-25 range on the list since 2004.

no, and Hird is their boss
On some level he needs to appease the masses. Were he not the golden boy the choruses of derision from the fans would likely be much louder.

W.r.t. the players, I'm not sure you quite understand the dynamic of working for a manager, let alone what it would be like in a job where you're competing with your peers for a finite number of positions. Hird's role as senior coach is to instruct, develop and mentor, not be a fanatical dictator.

Hird's mandate is to maximise the performance of the team as a whole unit, if you don't see how giving games to someone who may be considered internally as inferior to another individual could affect team performance, I'm not sure we should be engaging in this conversation. That's the sort of thing that can affect players both within and on the fringes of the team.

Admittedly, if there are aspects of Melksham's contribution to the team which are more intangible and seen by all players on the list, then there's no issue with his ongoing automatic selection
