People are talking about Cain v Werdum, provided Cain's next fight was against JDS and he got through that, how do people see that possibility of a match up panning out?
Cain keeping it standing and mauling him on the feet. Werdum makes sense as the champs next fight but I don't think he'd have much success against Cain or JDS again.
The only shot Werdum has v Cain is that he's inches taller, can throw his hands ok and Cain won't just dive into his guard thoughlessly given his grappling quality.
All things being equal, Cain just bashes him up on the feet IMO.
Werdum's kicks will be the key to the fight. If he can slow Cain's movement with some earlier kicks, he'd be much easier to get to the ground/in to the clinch. I think he'll do everything he can to avoid being in punching range with Cain as he'll likely be at a speed disadvantage and Cain has got big power. Like you, I don't give him much of a chance, but think there are a few ways he can win.

Yes, you're right. He does have some tools and it wouldn't be a fight without some interesting aspects, but Cain is so well rounded that it;s tough to make a case for him. I agree that his kicks will be important, but Cain moves crazy fast and could have him eating knuckles whilst he tries to kick his legs out.
Always like watching HW's who can grapple at his level. Makes things interesting.
Agreed, **** knows why Metamoris chose Brendan Schaub of all people to fight on their invitational on the weekend. Either of these guys would've been much better, instead the fans were treated to 20 mins of this..I was hung over and badly sleep deprived after a big weekend away, but still managed to really enjoy the grappling exchanges in the Nog/Werdum fight. It's such a rare event to see two guys at that level in MMA go to the ground for an extended period of time. Would love to see Fabricio go against both Barnett and Mir in the future, but expect he'll get next shot at the Cain/Junior winner.

Hahah, I've not yet watched any of the matches but heard plenty about them already, including the Kron Gracie v Aoki finish. My understanding is, as the sub was well and truly on, in the case of a regular points competition the person attempting the sub gets 2 points and they reset in the middle from standing positions. In the case of a no points, submission only competition the person performing the submission gets a bit of leeway with the boundary if it's on. It's either submission or out of bounds. The finish all happened so quickly, that probably should've been called as out of bounds though..Haha. I saw that the other day. This was my favourite gif from their match. Some head pushes plus Schaub running away as Cyborg rolled after him.
Aoki/Gracie was much better and had a cool finish. Some complaints about the ref not returning them to the centre though.

Absolutely, it does. But, superiority to what? MMA? I don't really agree with that. It's neither better or worse, just a different sport. I like the concept of watching a BJJ match without watching guys worry about having to collect points, and it's a great chance for fans of the sport to get the chance to see some match ups that you wouldn't necessarily see in the big comps due to some of the names not being active competition fighters.Metamoris has potential, but this event seems like it was set up to either prove BJJ's superiority or to suck in casual MMA fans with some name fighters. Schaub has no business being in a grappling match with Cyborg, bit the event did quite well from all reports. Hopefully it was more about jist getting started than anything and we can see some of the big name MMA stars with serious BJJ accomplishments involved.

This article explains what I was getting at:

"Still, though, was the MMA fighters’ presence a setup designed to make jiu-jitsu look good? It wouldn’t be the first time the Gracies pulled such a stunt: Royce Gracie was specifically matched with unwitting journeyman boxer Art Jimmerson in the opening round of UFC 1 with the intention of proving jiu-jitsu’s superiority to boxing, since the latter was considered the unquestioned king of combat sports at the time."
The concept of this is great, I agree with that, but the cynic in me thinks there's more to it than that. The proof will be in the upcoming cards I guess and the Bravo/Royler re-match is a good start.
The Bravo/Royler rematch should be good and should create a lot of interest that's for sure. And from what I know the rest of the draw from UFC 1 was random but the Gracie/Jimmerson match. I suppose if it had have been rigged you wouldn't have had Royce fighting Shamrock until the final.
