Another involving GWS - what is Jacksh worth on an open market assuming he wants to come to Victoria?
High draft pick KPP, I assume that places his value quite high.

He would easily go top 20 in this year's draft.

Not much value on the roos list.

Rumours that Adelaide are into Nathan Grima. Probably more valuable to us, as I doubt that the Crows would hand over their first pick.

Luke Delaney been dominating VFL level and really deserves an extended shot at AFL level, would be worth a bit because big Key Backs are generally at a premium.

Levi Greenwood dropped again despite playing solid football. Deserves to be playing AFL footy as an inside mid, not as a tagger. You'd think Port and the Crows would be interested.

Currie on a one year deal, arguably the most solid ruckman that isn't playing seniors in the AFL at the moment. Could look for more opportunities if Scott doesn't give him a chance soon.

Liam Anthony dominating in the twos...well known to be a good accumulator, but is a bit on the soft side and his kicking can be suspect. Deserves to be on an AFL list however.

Nah, i think we want to use pick 50 or so for drafting kids :P

I have no doubt the Crows would hand over their first pick. Its about 48.

Luke is a player who has impressed me in the past and as I've stated a number of times now on the Carlton board, I'd be willing to give him another chance at AFL level as his days at North Melbourne look to be coming to an end.

Does not seem to be in NM's plans heading forward and I can't see it being too difficult to convince both club and player to give him a fresh start.

I'd like to see another key defender at Carlton next season, not necessarily as a starting 18 player but moreso one who can provide us with some solid depth. Currently we have Jamison, Henderson and Watson at the club who are all capable of playing as a key back, with Rowe a part timer who is preferred up forward but can drift back if needed, and McCarthy developing slowly in the reserves who is now injured and no sure thing to make the grade.

With Henderson making the move into the forward line we now have Jamison and Watson occupying the key defensive posts. As good as he is, Jamo is injury prone and hasn't been in good form of late, and Watson is just a kid who I'm confident will make it but he may not be ready to assume that position on a permanent basis. Outside of that, as I said above, the cupboard is quite bare at the moment.

Luke is one who I believe would fit that bill (along with Luke Thompson from Adelaide) and I can't imagine it would take more than a token late pick to get it across the line, similar to the Jordan Russell trade last year. I think it makes a lot of sense and it would be a sound list management decision for Carlton to go down that path.

Luke Delaney would be worth a third rounder at best

I disagree. He is a key defender of a considerable size, he should net a couple of second rounders from top 8 sides that are filling holes on the list.
This maybe the reason you are no longer a top 8 side

He is a defender in the VFL side. Lets be honest he is the 'steak knives' in a deal, and that is probably what will happen. Won't be much of a deal, just a deal to get him more games.

Also have to take into considerations teams needs and stocks for KPD. Garnier is the only real top KPD coming through so it wouldn't surprise if Delaney did command a pick from 35 onwards. Next years draft does look to be better for talls so it does depend on how each list is progressing for KPD and age gaps

Would would give a 2nd rounder for Delaney, 3rd yes, but that is about his value. Which sides apart from GWS (who can get one significantly better) and St Kilda (Brown is their target) would give North that much for a VFL defender? Similarly I don't expect anything more than a 3rd for Gumbleton as he can't crack our side.

I'd give a second rounder for Gumby

Possibly, but the point I was making was the fact that players that play 90% in the VFL can't expect 'great' deals. Gumby has a bit more currency and even then I am not expecting more than a late 2nd or more likely a 3rd. If we get the Dogs 2nd for Gumby we would run to the bank (but I expect their 3rd and that is fair in my book)

Do you mean Taylor Garner? He's a medium forward not a KPD.

It was a joke! But write something stupid like two rounders for a VFL defender you deserve a bit of curry

Sydney gave an end of first and third for Ted Richards who was essentially a VFL defender at the time. Some people see diamonds where others see coal.

Ted had shown a bit at AFL level and was a reasonable draft pick. Il put my left nut on it that he won't go for a first rounder or two second rounders!
Delaney would be worth about as much as we got for Spangher last year.
