I'd say a slightly risky move but in all a good move, if he plays to his potential the 5 year lock in will be a brilliant decision.

Now confirmed that John Wall gets himself a 5-year $80 million contract with teh Wizards.

Good move? Bad move? Too early move?

I think it had to be done. If Wall has a consistant season playing at the level he played towards the end of last season then it's gonna look like a smart move. Pressure is on Wall to perform now though.

what a plain and boring home screen

It's a fine move Wall will never reach his potential because he's jumpshot is broken and not fixable but hes an above average PG that might make an all star game or two.

It's not broken and it is fixable but it does need a fair bit of improvement and he's better than just "above average" as a PG, he's got a great running mate in Beal and it's only now that he's getting competent teammates.

Wall will be fine.

also is walls jump shot worse than rondos?

oh hey Vincent Chase so last night was watching bit of the kardashians and everyones fave kendall had some prof photos taken and displayed at a gallery or something. when camera panned to a black and white one, there was a blurred part around her bot bot. i may have lost liquid

I think the max contract label is confusing in the NBA these days. A max for Dwight start off at some $20 million per season but a max for Wall starts off at some $13 million which is a significant difference.

Anyway, the way I look at it is whether in today's NBA "climate" the player is worth the starting salary. On that basis Wall, when healthy is worth $13-14 million per season.

It's also part of my argument that maximum deal for DeMarcus Cousins is a not brainer. He is worth is even if he didn't improve. If a number of other teams would offer it, then it's worth it. Similar principle applies to Wall. When he is healthy and in form, he is one of the best PGs in the NBA. His jumpshot is the only thing holding him back from being a great.

Will definitely make an all star game or 2 even if he just remains a slasher and can't improve his jump shooting.

Freak athlete.

Lots of people claim that PGs who cant shoot cant lead their team to success.

But Kidd, Rondo and Parker have all won championships this decade.

What am I saying? John Wall will lead Washington to a championship.

not good news for nashs lakers :(

yay we signed marcus landry!

"I've never really worried about being called soft or people thinking I'm soft," the Los Angeles Clippers' star power forward said. "If anybody wants to step and take that challenge I'm more than happy -- off the court -- because I don't want to get suspended. It's not something that I dwell on. I've never really had a problem with being soft."

*rushes to delete any posts questioning Blake Griffen's hardness in case he reads them and comes to beat me up*

Wall's jump shot isn't broken. Hell, in some games I've watched he's been absolute money. Doesn't really have a 3 point shot, but neither did Rose when he came into the league.

Yeah i'm with you I haven't watched a lot of Wall in the NBA but until reading the last two pages I wasn't aware his jump shot was that shit.

It is. He got a little better last year (could be contract year effect) but the year before I would tune into the Wiz just to make myself feel better that at least there is someone in the NBA that bricks shots as much as me. It was my guilty pleasure.
