Well now I'm paranoid. I get tested probably every six weeks. I don't know why, I'm a fully licenced female in a mazda 2, nothing exciting. I even got followed home from work one night and got tested just before my driveway.

2 months ago, was random drug tested too. BAC was at zero being a probationary driver, but had the awkward 5min conversation with the officer while waiting for the result to come through.

really followed home, wow. Can they do that.

No idea if they can or not. It was late at night (I worked in a restaurant that didn't close until 1am) and they were behind me for the entire 20 minute drive. They didn't put their lights on until we turned into my street...which is a dirt road with no street lights, so it was a bit intimidating! They were pretty nice though.

I've also been pulled over by a drug and alcohol tester and had a minimal reading. The policeman said I wouldn't be incriminating myself if I admitted that I'd smoked pot in the previous 6 weeks or so, but I hadn't. Then I had to tell him what I'd consumed that day, and when I mentioned nurofen plus, he said that can give a slight reading and that I could be on my merry way.

Haven't been tested since I've had my license, so around 7 years or so. Been waved through a couple of checkpoints at the most bizarre times of the day which seemed to be a huge waste of police resources.

I work nights so leave about 10:30 pm to drive maybe 10k's to work, on average I get breath tested every 2-3 months in the same 2 stretches of road. South Rd Moorabbin and Boundary Rd anywhere near Moorabbin airport. Always get let through when riding a bike, a lot of random breath testing without the booze bus gets done on Beach Rd during the week around lunch time.

The people not getting tested must live in regional areas or drive less 5000 k's a year.

Driving - once in over 7 years

However in my previous job it wasn't unusual to have random breath tests on the morning after pay day, and the occasional drug testing. Probably at least once a year, if not more.

I think maybe once or twice since I have been on my P's (3 years) and a couple of times on my L's. Would never have even a sip of alcohol and drive because knowing my luck I would get pulled over and I think I'd lose my license

A couple of days before Christmas driving through a small town on the South-West Hwy. About 5pm. Time before that was at 4.30am on the same highway in the middle of nowhere.

Just before Christmas, got pulled over in South Melbourne about 9:30 in the morning...

One time, I was driving from Melbourne to Canberra on New Years' Day. Got RBT'd four times on the one trip....

I had one that literally was in the middle of nowhere. Have a look at a map of Australia, start at Alice Springs, go south for about 400km, there's a road that heads west to Uluru and WA. Go about 200km along there, and that's where I got one.

I could even see the cop standing on the road from a couple of km away, was trying to work out what the hell he was doing.

A few years ago on West Coast Hwy on a Friday arvo heading down to City Beach for a run/swim I got nabbed by a Booze Bus. I hadn't been drinking so thought I was in the clear, bloody cop trumped me though and asked me for my drivers license which I'd forgotten to renew of course

Had to leave my car there and didn't have my mobile with me but I was in my running gear so just ran back home, which thankfully was only a couple of suburbs away where I was able to get a lift from a mate to the Licensing Dept to get a temporary license and then another lift to reclaim my car.

Absolute pain in the arse and I wasn't even drunk.

I got waved through a breath test station but the 3 cars I front all got tested and at least the one far behind me.

I found this odd as I was on my red P's and was a young guy.

I've only been tested once at 2pm on a Wednesday. But waved through at least 2 other stations.

I have nothing to worry about as I'm not one to drink and drive but the cops don't know that and I feel insulted that they take me for such a non threatening driver.

About 10 years ago I'd had a few beers after playing footy and was driving home when I ran into a booze bus, I wasn't really pissed but could have been over the limit so was stressing big time but luckily I got waved through. The car in front of me was the last car sent into the testing lane too so I really dodged a bullet there.
