Some massive hypocrisy from the * board where they can't stomach freedom of speech
That's just Clarkson though. Sniping from the cheap seats when there's no chance of retaliation.

Poor deluded Ben.

The goober? The same poster that won their POTY? Bloody hell!

Best tell young Ben that *hird and co can have their say, but the untouchable one seems unwilling to ever respond, let alone with something lucid!

I think you completely missed the point of the article.

This is just more bitter essendon crap where instead of taking responsibility.. You get after Clarkson and imply that he is like Ben cousins instead of saying they are good ideas for player welfare..

Which lets face it at essendon was a secondary thought to winning.

Cop that! :thumbsu:

I rarely ever go over to the *essendon board but, wow, are they still seriously delusional over there. Learnt nothing from this whole sad sorry saga.

It might be worth wandering along to the * v Hawks game, which is apparently on in round 2.

Fully ticketed game at Etihad so could be difficult to just "wander" in, need to get a reserved seat most likely.

Horace doesn't need to get inside the 'dome. He can do all his mischief in the concourse before the game, perhaps linger around to finish off the job after it, especially if the * get smashed by the Hawks, and perhaps sneak his way into Clarko's presser with questions like "Would you describe Mark Thompson as *jimmy's accomplice in the PED shambles or is he just naive and ignorant?". ;)

I imagine the gates will be thrown open somewhere around half time as *essendon supporters stampede the exits. Then again, no point trolling after all the sooks and donialists have left.

Dear members,

It was great to finally see our players in action last night on the Gold Coast. Although we didn’t quite manage to come away with a win, I’m sure you will agree there were a number of positives to take from the game, including the performance of our younger players.

Unfortunately Alex Browne injured his knee and will have scans later today to determine the extent of the damage. Lets hope for some positive news and a quick recovery.

In relation to an article published in The Age newspaper today, we are disappointed by what the Club deems as inappropriate comments made by Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson.

Alastair Clarkson's comments, made after he attended a two week Harvard Business School course, come at a time when our Club and James Hird are making very good progress with rebuilding and moving on.

The comments made by Clarkson relating to James Hird are neither helpful nor informed.

The events of the ASADA investigation into the previous supplements program are very complex matters and the report is still to be finalised.

There have been many lessons learned from this issue for our Club and indeed all AFL Clubs including Hawthorn. As a result we have made significant changes to our governance, compliance and risk management framework to protect our Club in the future.

The Club and James have accepted responsibility for the mistakes that were made and received significant sanctions from the AFL. We are now committed to moving on and restoring the trust of all stakeholders within the game.

We have no doubt James Hird is the right person to coach the Essendon Football Club and we look forward to his return to the Club later this year.

James appreciates the ongoing support he has received from other AFL coaches and the AFL Coaches Association.

Thank you for your support and loyalty to the Essendon Football Club.

Paul Little

There's part of me that's coming around to the idea that them getting off would be a good result in itself.

The tears that would flow from the injustice they suffered would be magical.

2013 would quickly join 1999 in the pantheon of flags that are rightly Essendon's.

FWIW I don't think the club itself will cop anymore whacks from the AFL, unless ASADA drop a huge bombshell and rub out the squad etc.

Far more likely is that Dank, Hird and Robinson are barred for life, the players get off and the club gets nothing further.

We should boycott this game if the AFL doesn't take action beforehand. Show some spine unlike the soft on drugs approach they favour.

It'd be an absolute disgrace if they didn't get any more sanctions. For all that has gone on the AFL would become a laughing stock and Australian sport in general would be questioned.

I could not agree more. They will only escape further sanctions if someone at a very high level has been seriously compromised in the early stages of the investigations last year.

Considering they are actually monitoring the effects of these drugs for the rest of their lives, the club will get punished further.

Yeah, that does look like a PR attempt to get ahead of whacks coming.

"* players would be provided with independent medical advice about the substances administered during the club's controversial supplements program in 2012"

How? *Chicken Little still says *they don't know what was administered.

"A research institute would also be commissioned to be involved in a study of the substances the * believe their players took."

But *they've got a fair idea ;)

I note that Winderlich and Hibberd are out for a few weeks with hamstring strains.

2012 re-visited? Supplements administered? Any connection? Just saying.

Note to self and about to administer punishment to self for poor work in previous post being the failure to work at least one * into the post.

"There have been ongoing discussions with the AFLPA, the AFL and Essendon. Nothing is settled yet, but there's been dialogue between the three parties," Keane told AFL.com.au.

This is a joke. Why is the AFL having "ongoing discussions" with Essendon to determine the future monitoring of the players. The AFL should simply define the monitoring and direct Essendon or an independent body to carry it out.

Because, the AFL is all about 'management'.
