It worked with Ball yeah Jake played well but he was not dominant. He most likely will not get drafted this season

You've been speaking to too many St Kilda supporters :)

It was Ball and his management that chose that path not Collingwood. The AFL take a very dim view of draft tampering (look no further than Tippett's "deal") we would be well advised to not go down that path.

Tippett's deal could not be more different we would not pay him out side of the cap and have it written in to his contract if he wants to go home at the end of the deal we have to trade him for our third pick. Have you ever played NBA2K on your my player you just tell them you can't see your self fitting in the the roster if the Bobcats want you so you can get to a better side. That is all Sam would be doing.

Kurt Tippett has been fined $50,000 and suspended for half the 2013 AFL season while the Adelaide Crows have been fined $300,000 for breaching the salary cap and tampering with the draft.

The bolded reference to NBA2K is surely a joke? Because it has less than zero weight in terms of what is and isn't allowed at AFL level.

Draft tampering is a serious matter, the end.

Jake played well for Montmorency on the weekend but the fact he is playing local footy means he is a very slim chance to get drafted. With Sam I don't know to much about him but if he is a lock to be drafted the system can be manipulated, just like WCE with Darling. I have heard that Sams life long dream has to play for Collingwood like his father and grandfather so if Hine rates him as a certainty to get drafted to the Pies if he is available we could just get him to interview poorly with other clubs
He is a Tigers supporter, so while it would probably be nice for him to be a pie, I'm not sure he wouldn't be dreaming of a life in yellow and black either unfortunately.

No it isn't West Coast did it with Darling they spread the word that he was always out on the town.

That's a good theory! You might want to forward onto the integrity department of the AFL with the resounding proof you have and all :thumbsu:

As for further evidence of how seriously draft tampering is taken

Brett Chalmers (No.10, 1992). Before the 1992 draft Chalmers told a number of clubs he would not play for them if drafted, as he only wanted to play for Collingwood. He and the Magpies were found guilty of draft tampering. Chalmers was unable to play for the Magpies for the next three years as a result. He was traded to Adelaide the following year for pick 34 (a fair downgrade from No.10), which they used on Stephen Patterson.

It's serious business whether you want to acknowledge it or not and if proven can have serious consequences

But you don't go in there and say you don't want to play there you just give a poor interview that makes them doubt weather you are committed

The way he is looking we can be bloody grateful he is FS.

Yeah I can see why they are saying he is a top 5 pick even with his limited showing due to injuries.

Good to see him go hard at that ball vs Deer (Hawks FS) too seems to have the total package just needs a bit more meat on his bones which will come in time.

Even shown great leadership onfield, as you say the total package.

Grundy more put clubs off than tampered with the draft to get to a specific club.

He interviewed clubs as much as they interviewed him. Many clubs didn't like his attitude. Collingwood recognised he's a hard worker, winner and a guy who fit our list needs.

That and clubs felt in 2012 with the success of rookie rucks and ruckmen off the bottom of opposition lists that it wasn't worth developing their own as they believed in the past they needed to.
