"Common sense" in the eyes of different supporters is clearly never that simple, on BF, and especially when you work in Melbourne as an AFL footy journo.

I hate footy journo's more than most, RC is a gun journo though, he's a footy head, and if you've ever heard him speak, you'd realise he is the farthest bloke from "clearly doesn't watch games" and has "no idea".

The bloke would watch every game, every week. Whilst he has pretty firm opinions, he's very objective, I doubt most would even be able to tell you he's a Essendon supporter.

Your previous post was more to do with the "anti-vic" garbage that seems to be a chip on the shoulder of most South Australians. You clearly never stream SEN etc, most of the jounro's you chastise have nothing but glowing reviews of most of Port and Adelaides work this year.......

RC ? The bloke is far from professional when it comes to Carlton and MM. Complete hack when it comes to writing about the Essendon scandal as well.

Heath Shaw. (Easily can slot Hibberd into the back pocket and Michael Johnson onto the back flank.
Jamie Elliot. Had a good season but Luke Parker should have dibs ahead of him. And B. Harvey.
Matthew Priddis. Another rock-solid season from the veteran but Tom Rockliff should be a lock for this.
Kieren Jack. Can consider himself lucky to have a spot ahead of Boak/Ebert.
Nathan Jones. Like Priddis a good honest toiler but he's not AA. Again Boak/Ebert/Bartel/Heppell all have claims ahead of him.
Michael Johnson. In plenty of cases positions barely matter but down the spine they do and Johnson is not an AA CHB. Put Hooker to CHB, slide Thompson to FB and Johnson across to the flank.

rohan connolly no. 1 member of the pro essendon anti carlton media ... love the way he dismissed kade simpson stats ....

fyi - if you watched carlton games kade spends 80-90% of his time in defence .... SFB

It's not just bias inserting Nick Dal Santo on to the HBF line in an AA team. He is in perhaps near career best form, and has been playing fantastic footy across the half-back line for NMFC.

Also, Chad Wingard absolutely deserves a spot in this team. As does Lance Franklin on current form, after a slow start to the season.

I don't think Joel Selwood deserves a spot in the starting 18, but has earned a spot on the interchange.
Since when are these things based on current form? round 1 should have exactly the same value as round 12

Mark Robinsons team
N Smith, C Hooker, M Johnson
N Malceski, S May, K Simpson
D Beams, J Kennedy, T Boak
L Breust, N Riewoldt, J Gunston
B Harvey, T Hawkins, R Gray
A Sandilands, S Pendlebury, G Ablett
J Selwood, N Fyfe, C Wingard, C Ward

Surely and I mean SURELY Josh P Kennedy (Syd) is ahead of Callan Ward. Sure Ward has done well, but come on, Kennedy has won games off his own boot!

Kennedy is in the team...

Fair enough, missed his name. Ward shouldn't though, there are probably 10-15 mids ahead and that is being kind. At least Jeremy Cameron somewhat deserved his AA last year, Ward is a good leader sure, but come on how many games has he won for his team? Midfielders win games, pure and simple. Lets look at who should be ahead: Luke Parker (Syd), Jamie Elliot (Coll), Dion Prestia (GC), Patrick Dangerfield (Adel)- on par with Ward but more potential, Jordan Lewis (Haw), Jarred McVeigh (Syd), etc....

He's been the best winger this year imo
Hill is just an ok player. Finds the ball but his kicking and bag of tricks isn't as good as other guys you could describe as wingers.

Without thinking too much I can name 3 players I would rather have running down the wing with the ball - B.Harvey, Polec and the other Hill.

If they are naming a winger (specialist) and they rarely do, Harvey is so far ahead of the rest, Brad Hill needs at least another season for mine. Lewis Jetta had a better season kicking 40 odd goals and didn't get a spot. They rarely pick wingers, there are always a zillion pure mids they try and put in.

If you rate the All Australian team by how many games a player won for his team you're a bit silly. Teams are made up of 22 players. Yes, one player can have a huge impact on the result but a team needs more than one player to win a game every week.

The midfielders they pick are INFLUENTIAL on the results they just are. Ward is a great leader but come on be realistic, he is just solid, or to be kind just above solid. It is his leadership that is great, but they don't pick AA's on that usually. There are better midfielders who have better numbers than Ward, end of story. There are forward-mids like Luke Parker (just as an example) with better numbers.
