Our's is a funny sport where the outcome of a team contribution determines how we judge individual performance.

My slant is obviously towards hawthorn, but thinking back to the 2011 prelim the Luke Ball goal is the memorable moment from that match.

About a minute earlier Franklin had kicked an amazing goal from the boundary. Had the hawks held on it would be the buddy moment remembered and Franklin's legacy as a September champion further entrenched.

Other one that spring to mind are Pav's third quarter in last year's grand final. Every bit as good as strewy dew in 2008, but the dockers lost and in a fairly forgettable grand final Pav misses out on a personal entry in the history books.

Would love to hear of others.

Pavlich in the 2006 Prelim v the Swans. Was immense all day and hit the post late from a tough shot from memory, which people remember as a 'choke'

From my own side:
Brad Sewell 2012 GF - Norm Smith Medallist if we'd won
Jordan Lewis 2011 PF - Clear BOG, forgotten about due to Ball's last minute heroics

1989 Gary Sr.

Yeah, clear winner here imo as well. He was magnificent that day and being a GF...well, it's the biggest stage on which to perform.

His performance was unforgettable anyway, people still talk about it 25 years later!

Goddard's is more likely to fade into obscurity.

From an Adelaide perspective, Tippett's goal in 2009 SF and his utter destruction of Shoenmakers in the 2012 PF would be more remembered if we had won either game.

From the Pies - Marty Clarke in Prelim vs Geelong 2007.

Clarke has now departed Collingwood to go back to Ireland for the second time and leaves as an unfulfilled talent that couldn't crack more than game this year even with the massive injury toll at the club.

However in just his 12th game for Collingwood (which was probably only his 20th game of Aussie Rules ever) he was fighting it out for Collingwood's BOG with Cloke in what would have been the pretty much the biggest upset in AFL finals history.

His entire career would be judged differently if we'd managed one more straight kick that night.

The ball sitting for Milne late in the last qtr of the 2010 GF. If he slotted it, would have most likely been a saints win.

Pav against Adelaide in 2005 at Football Park, he kicked 8 including 7 in the second half but we fell a kick short after being behind by 37 at 3/4 time. Probably slightly more memorable for me given I was at the game and was only the 2nd time I had flown to see an away game.

Goodes and the Swans in general in the 2006 GF. All we needed was two more points :(

And no one would have remembered Hall having one of the worst GFs ever.

If Ashley Sampi was paid a free kick for being pulled, scragged and bear hugged in the marking contest leading to Barry's mark....

forgetting the teams pretty much a shot on the siren would of been epic

They lost by 6 goals, I'm not sure if his goal would've been memorable

If StKilda had held on in 2010 Goddards speccy would arguably seen as the most important mark in a GF of all time alongside Leo Barry
May have gone down as the most memorable mark ever.
