'ello chaps, just wondering what the dogs would have to add to Jones in order to steal Cameron Giles from you guys? Is he well regarded within the club?

Smart-ass answer, Bontempelli (or however you spell it)

Honest answer, as a 1st yr player I doubt we would even consider trading him. How about an upgrade on our 1st and 2nd rd selections (which we would have anyway if you didn't tank against the GWS :P) plus your 3rd rd selection ???

Jones + Tutt for our third?

Tutt seems ok. If it's cheap and Malthouse thinks he can shape the guy
I just don't want us to do a Richmond/Collingwood & get too many of these fringe types. Are they both best 22 players in round 1? I don't know.

That's a fair question and we didn't want anyone that wasn't immediate best 22 through trades but what if we do turn over the list to the tune of 12-14 players? We would need to take a few risks with fringe players that we may not have otherwise.

I personally think STK are nuts for trading pick 1 for JOR, KJ & pick 3. JOR & KJ haven't shown much. They're essentially trading Petracca for JOR, KJ & pick 3. You'd want a proven player + a very good pick for pick 1. Neither player is proven. Imagine if both are busts.

Given the top 4 picks are a lottery this year, reckon they'd be mad not to go for the above.

We need to fill out our depth though. We have quite a few list spots to fill

Would you prefer a Melbourne and throw the kids in too early

No.
But I think there's a happy medium between getting too many fringe players to fill list spots & doing a Melbourne. Just don't want us to go too far.

Anyway, who remembers this:

Not a fan. don't see how he could help our list/club. Pass
I'm not hell bent on the idea, but if we are a chance at finals next year, it would be good to have an experienced player at full back given that Jammo's shoulders aren't reliable and Rowe, though coming off the back of an impressive year, may not have such a good run this year. KPD's don't grow on trees, and Merrett has stated he wants to go back into defense, plus Finals experience, he may well be serviceable for us for a couple of years.

You never know, he may end up part of the Robbo trade :p

I'm worried about taking so many of these fringe Bulldogs players. Even with 3rd/4th round draft picks, can we really expect them to take us to the next level?

Depth is one thing, quality in depth is another.

I mentioned something about Tutt about 10 pages back. Is exactly the type we need with Garlett on his way out. Small, quick and a very good kick. I can see him fitting into our side if he works hard and has a good preseason.

The best thing is (regardless of who it is) - players are wanting to come to our club. That speaks volumes of where we're headed and our leadership (Mick and the players).

10 pages back? Could've just said a couple of hours ago.

HARKER Ellard could survive given we need to replace Jeffy too. Wouldn't mind us drafting Jack Lonie (best small forward in the draft) in the 2nd or 3rd round either.

His forward pressure stats are reasonably good. Averaged around 5 tackles and 4 inside 50s per game (from 76% time on ground) in 2014. Goes at only 69% by foot, though.

177 cm is Tutt ... would want to be super quick around the ground, I like his kicking action on the run.

I dare say that if we manage to secure Tutt, that would rule out any possible trade for Blease?

Out of the 2 - you'd say Tutt has shown more I guess.
