If there is any criticism we can direct at the club, it's not for getting the free agents or for not matching Collingwood's offer, which wouldn't have been smart. The only thing we could have done is tried to lock him for to a 2 year deal in May-June. Missed our window, and it was too hard after that.
It could be also a turning point in the way Scott coaches , before this season he was very belligerent. 2013 many of us were screaming for Levi to be given a fair go, but Scotty was set in his ways. I for one am sorry to see him go but one door closes another opens. Jacobs is known for inside work and he was set back in the pecking order, with Greenwoods exit he could be thrusted in helping spitta out and Zeibell playing a more semi permanent role up forward, its a given that Scotty will increase Jacks time up forward.

so in effect he has not chosen anything other than a preference.

What if the dogs come to the party with a better pick?

or this trade stalls and another party yet to comeforward to us with a better pick?
What pick do the doggies or the tigers have?

We can't trade him without his permission.

I honestly think denying him a trade and then offering him a deal (maybe even an improved deal) after the trade window is a legitimate option.

Shit news. Ah well.
Collingwood want pick 22 for lumumba and got 17 for wellinghack. Don't let these clowns get him easy. Offering pick 30 is an absolute insult for someone you are prepared to pay 1.6million over 4 years.

I'd almost rather get nothing and let the dogs gobble him up in the psd.
Finished third, just, in a prelim final club's b+f
Was a second rounder originally - now has 6 years development in him

With all due respect to you guys, Levi is not in the same class as Beams. So asking for pick 4 for him is fantasy. I think a trade facilitating JOR might be on the cards if we can persuade Brisbane to send Patffull to Gws.

Also for what it's worth listening to his manager sounds like the Club really dropped the ball on extending his contract. If they had offered him what they are offering him now we would not be having this debate.

With Geoff at the club I am more comfortable of getting a good trade done. But we Levi and Pickering should be told there are no guarantees at all. And no promises.

Can we actually trade for Greenwood?? he's out of contract?? or do we get compensated?? Anyways direct swap for Paul Seedsman for me thank you very much.
It's like the luke ball situation a few years ago.
Saints didn't get a trade done and he went to pies in draft

From what I am hearing, I don't think we can be too upset that he has chosen to leave.

A combination of money, lack of opportunity and the club coming to the party late really tipped the balance.

The reality is though Collingwood need him more than us, so as long as we get a decent deal it could be a win/win IMO.

That is Pickering spin for the ages.

Brisbane aren't going to be giving up their best defender and pick 4 for Beams. If anyone is in fantasy land, it's you pies fans.

The other thing I took from that interview that hasn't been mentioned is that Levi still wasn't confident of his place in our midfield.
Pretty astonishing really, after Bastinac had seemingly been pushed out and he played the whole season in the midfield.

I specifically didn't ask for pick 4 in direct exchange for Levi.

If you're gonna have a crack, get the facts right. Levi + pick 22 = pick 4

If that's not fair, then I don't know what is.

It's pickering, there are two side of the argument and all we have heard is the opinion of someone that isn't exactly trustworthy or even likable. Who knows what happened, the only fact that is true at the moment is that he left due to extra money that we weren't willing to give him.

This is no pot shot at you Mick, but trusting the free hand of the market to deliver an appropriate value is misguided at best. History is littered with people or sports teams overpaying for a commodity. We figured and gave what we thought was an appropriate deal, only time will judge whether that was prudent or not.
Agree 100% with what you say!

I'd rather risk having a Speight/Richardson/Anthony/McMahon situation than risk losing a guy who was arguably our best player this year.

If by arguably you mean because it suits me to say that on BF because I'm shattered a player I rated highly is leaving for nothing more than more money, then you could be right.

north ****ed up and in the end it was too late but he still chased the money. Can't blame him for being offended in the first place but still sucks that he chose money now.
