For all the hate and haters out there for the club, and all the talk of our 'rebuild' - when it comes to odds/money we still have that support. Expectation is actually probably a better term. People love to hate, but still expect us to do well.

Guess that's a part of being such a big club with a strong history... can never escape it...

Not so sure about that.

I love where our list is at but let's face it, we're now a really young side.

Football isn't played on paper but I can't look at the lists in the AFL and say that we currently have a 'top 8' list

I don't believe the competition has ever been as even as it is currently. That being the case I think there are 5 standout clubs who form the top tier in the league but you can just about throw a blanket over the rest of the competition.

Hawthorn, Sydney, Port Adelaide, Fremantle and Geelong I'd have as the best sides in the league and I see a clear gap between that group and the rest of the competition. Those clubs finished top 5 in 2014 so I'm not sticking my neck out but I really can't see that changing next season.

Many are of the belief that Geelong no longer remain in that group looking forward and whilst I agree they appear to be slipping back into the chasing pack I still have them clinging onto that top group for at least one more year.

Last year clearly the two weakest sides in the league were Melbourne and St Kilda and I don't expect that to change much in 2015. Both those clubs are a fair way back and have some catching up to do. Expect improvement to come from them but I'm not convinced it will come at the same rate, or quicker, than the clubs they're chasing.

The remaining 11 clubs are incredibly even and you could make a case for just about every one of them to finish in the top 8. Carlton are definitely placed in that group as a team who has the talent to play finals but are up against it with a logjam of teams competing for a very limited number of places.

Yeah spot on J. Which also means the vagaries of the draw play some part and our draw may help us gain an inch or two. But the bottom line is that you have to win the close ones, something we have not done.

See I would say that North should finish top 5 minimum. Add Geelong as 6th and there is only 2 places left in the 8.

As you say, there's a logjam after that. However, the Gold Coast should improve greatly as should GWS. Richmond will be thereabouts as well as Essendon, Adelaide and WCE. I just don't see how we're better than any of those teams (except for maybe Essendon and GWS) fighting for the last 2 finals spots. It's entirely plausible that we finish 14th based on that alone.

I love our list at the moment but I expect it will be a couple of years before we start to fully see the team climb the ladder.

He played for Australia in the International Rules game last year BEFORE he made his AFL debut. So yeh, not a big loss.

pretty sure he cost Melbourne a high pick
