Surely the end of this season will be the perfect time to nab Casboult and Vickery - this would add so much flexibility to our setup of talls...*

Agree but we would need to cough up extra to get that.

With our game style the one position I would be most happy to have real depth is speedy half backs whom can also play on the wing. Need them in abundance. I'd love to add one or two more. One to replace Murph (when he retires) the other to play as a sub and come on and turn games on their head in the last quarter.

They can have Hunter too.

I would say first round + hunter + third round pick would be fair for both Henderson and Yarran.

My gosh would we be a force as soon as next year with Liberatore, Henderson and Yarran injected into that side.

So, effectively, it could be Jones/Tutt for Henderson/Yarran.... Carltank would love that!

Dahlhaus and our first pick for Vickery seems like a win/win for both clubs. :)

Can I just take a moment, as I think we all should, to say that the LM team know infinitely more about the team than all of this board combined. When I wrote before Xmas that Dally said the club wanted Roughy as a ruck forward because that was his best spot and I suggested to him he was mad, I was probably incorrect.

I'll also put up my hand and scoffed at the idea that Roughie would be anything but a fullback - after all, at the time Scarlett was at the club working with him and talking him up. Have to admit, his ruck work looks pretty good...

Will Roughie be good enough to be a starting ruckman when Will retires? Or, do we need a backup presuming that Ayce will be cut at the end of the year?

All we're left with is Campbell and Jong - although the latter is only used when Ayce is in the side...lol

Luenberger will be in Victoria next year and Carltank may still be looking to see if Kruezer has currency. Surely there are some players in the Footscray reserves we could trade to the Blues?

Anyone have the inside word regarding contracts?

Wallis, Micky T, Roberts, M.Boyd, Picken and Honey all still out of contract. Can't afford to lose any of them.

From what i have heard

Honey, Picken and Wallis aren't going anywhere. Not sure about the others for now.

We dont need anyone that cant get a kick in a side that is bottom of the ladder, no thanks

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-06-03/tarrant-could-be-set-to-leave-roos

North recently opened preliminary contract discussions with Tarrant in the hope of re-signing him before he becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.

But AFL.com.au understands that at least two rival clubs have signalled their preparedness to offer Tarrant up to $400,000 a season to lure him away from Arden Street.

Suitors will be keen to see Tarrant play a full 2015 season given his injury-prone history, but he has become a very attractive commodity given the paucity of key defenders in the market and his ability to play in attack.

The Brisbane Lions and Western Bulldogs are two teams actively in the market for key-position players, while Carlton, Fremantle, Adelaide, St Kilda and Geelong are among a raft of other clubs investigating trade and free agency options to shore up their spines.

Robbie Tarrant get any interest?

I'd be keen. He'll never be a number 1 but a more than handy number 2 and exactly what we need for Boyd. North won't trade though with Petrie and Waite a year or 2 away from retirement. He's a nice age for a KPP too which is something we don't have any of on our list at all - like, not even 1. (Although I'm aware his best footy, at least this year, has been as a defender)

Anyone keen on Steven Motlop?? Cats fans seem pretty keen to see the back of him.

Thought he'd be worth a first rounder, but most seem to think he's worth second rounder + fringe player.

I'd do our second pick and Hunter for him.

Yes! Think its a pretty fair deal!!
Jake with our first, Motlop for Hunter and our second.. I don't think Dalrymple is gonna be happy come draft night, lol.

Losing both Sid and Talia would be an absolute disaster in my opinion. Would set us back a fair way.
I agree, and I don't think they'll leave.

I'm just 100% certain that the others are staying.

Why would we offer Essendon anything more than a first rounder for Carlisle ? Hes uncontracted. You think the dons are going to send him to the PSD and miss out on a mid-1st-round pick because we didnt roll a fringe player into the deal?

I agree that a CHB is not our absolute top priority but unless there are some other gun key forwards or scintilating midfielders that are gettable, then we grab Carlisle.

Besides, we move Roughy to the ruck (inevitable IMO) and one of Talia/Roberts/Boyd goes down with a LTI, and we are back to scrabbling for decent key position players once more. Its not as if we are falling over ourselves for them.

In my mind, Carlisle for our 1st rounder - this deal is already done :)

Wouldn't touch Tarrant even if he is a FA. Only an incremental improvement on what we have.

Motlop's main knock is his lack of defensive run - total opposite of Bev's plan. Be very surprised if we went near him.

Henderson is a b grader who is older and more injured than Carlisle but would cost us something similar to Carlisle who as a back IMO is a potential a grader or even aa.

Yarran is one of those players that just seems a bit soft mentally - not keen for a 1st rd which is likely to be the asking price.

Happy enough to go to draft with our top picks if we can't get JC.

Get the feeling that if we are looking for a KPD one could be forced out. Both IMO are good enough in our best 22. Carlisle or the like forces one out. Going to be tough to convince both to stay.

He's an utterly hopeless forward so I'm assuming that, if we were interested, it would be to play back.

It's becoming clearer to me that a key defender is our #1 priority and we're formulating a number of 'backup' plans. We've heard tidbits about us approaching May, Carlisle, Henderson, Tarrant (maybe), Schade...we definitely do seem intent on bringing one over this year. I agree with it, but know a lot don't.
