I don't think any (okay, much) of it is criticism per se, it's about list balance. And ours currently has the balance of a see saw with Darren (boom bah) Jarman on one end and Razor Ray Chamberlain on the other.

Andrew Swallow, North Melbourne, has been charged with tripping Josh Kelly, GWS Giants, during the third quarter of the Round 12 match between North Melbourne and the GWS Giants, played at Spotless Stadium on Saturday June 20, 2015.

In summary, he can accept a $1000 sanction with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the GWS Giants Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as intentional conduct with low impact to the body. This offence was classified as a $1500 sanction. The player has no applicable bad record. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a $1000 sanction.

I didn't watch Larkin but have been given the impression he was much more of a playmaker than Swallow.

Larkin was definitely a better player - more creative and more skilful. Arguably our best inside midfielder behind Cable.

The comparison is more that both have led theirs teams nearly unassisted in the midfield* during a tough period between the retirement of some premiership heroes (Larkin - Schimma and Greig; Swallow - Grant and Simpson as examples) and a new talented generation coming through (Larkin - Schwass and Stevens; Swallow - Ziebell and Cunnington). Both at times virtually carried their teams at times.

Larkin is a great of the club, Swallow is definitely on the way there as well IMO.

*Swallow had Harvey, Larkin had German.

Larkins demise from the team was so quick. ..anyway your response is perfect

First up Larkin's legs wouldn't look out of place on a full sized billiard table.

And yeah he was a wizard especially by hand very strong through the core.

His career fell away very quickly, have often wondered why that happened.

His son is the one I'd like some information on :) Must be 13-14 now.

Net search suggests he's playing for Bundoora u15, site didn't have stats tho.

Been off the boil a little this season IMO. His tackling is better than ever but I'm not sure if he will ever reach the form he showed at the start of 2013 again. He was getting 30+ touches most weeks and was right up there in the Brownlow before his achillies injury

Matty Larkin of this era.

I don't think so. Larkin was much more classy. Mitchell of Hawthorn is an upgrade on Larkin. That's how great Larkin was.
Swallow is more the inside bullocking player like German use to be. Only Swallow works harder on his 'strength' which is tackling but both German & Swallow were 3/4 pace players.. heavy set midfielders but I'd have Swallow matched up with German only that German was a goal kicking midfielder.

Too slow for Pagan's 1993 team. Couldn't fit him in. McAdam took his place as the goal kicking wizard.

Didn't Larkin have really bad hamstrings and just couldn't get on the park?

That was much another reason why he couldn't break in… as it happens.. next man up.
