You guys should be very happy if you can get Seedsman. He has a lot of ability imo

Clearly a lot of people here have not seen much of Toumpas this year - let alone over his career. His year has been on a par with Aish for 2015.

Anyone with the slightest Lion connection seems to have their output exaggerated when it comes to this time of year & the thought of a potential welcoming to our club. Its become an annual event. ;)

Well that's why some people think it would be a fair trade.

Not sure Toumpas is even certified AFL standard yet,Dees giving him more time than usual because of the pick he was taken.I might suggest they would at this stage be delighted to receive anything at all in return.

Looking forward to the day this thread gets closed.

I think we can all acknowledge that Aish is pretty much gone. The only remaining questions are where and how much.

I don't think it matters much where he goes as long as the trade gives us something we need. I would say a second round draft pick and a swap of later picks in our favour as the most likely outcome. We need a few draft picks in the bank to buy our academy players and preferably have our second round pick (around 19, depending on any compo picks) up our sleeves. If we also get good compo for Luenberger, should he leave, then we will probably be right to stock up on more than two academy boys or shop for someone else. My gut feeling is that the Dixon dream is gone.

Normally with that sort of article you read through it carefully to see the grain of substance that the writer has seized upon. That helps direct you to who has leaked the story, and that tells you more than the article does.

Except in this case I cannot find even a grain of substance. It's like Jay Clark is just warming up for a bumper trade season of making stuff up with this early offering.

Trade period can be a depressing time. I suppose we should at least be grateful that we're not yet being reported as offering Pearce Hanley for anyone.

What we're forgetting is future picks can be traded this year. We could ask for Collingwoods first round pick next year, and swap Seedam this year. Wouldn't be a bad deal, if pies supporters think they'll be in the 8, we'll get a teen pick, any worse we'll get a top 10 back.

We could ask but why would Collingwood agree? We've been through this before and found out it doesn't really matter what is fair or reasonable.

Collingwood's second round pick is likely to be close to pick 30. That alone would be roughly the trade value we got for Docherty and Yeo two years ago. That, plus steak knives, is probably all Collingwood is prepared to pay. Once a player has nominated his destination, it doesn't really matter what a player's true value is because we'll get offered whatever the destination club is prepared to pay.

IMO, the only way to get reasonable value back from a side like the Pies is by getting the best possible steak knives in the deal. I just don't see a team outside the top 8 throwing a first round pick at us for Aish.

Rarely do you get more for a second hand car unless it is a classic or the buyer is woodduck.

Then again one mans trash is another mans treasure

I don't know just Wednesday morning ramblings really.

That's a very sober and pragmatic way to look at this, but for our sake I hope the go home five doesn't become the baseline for every trade deal for a wantaway player from here on. I think the path back home is already too easy for our young players and if we are seen to be accepting nakedly one-sided deals for them then that just makes it easier again.

So far we have mostly avoided taking 'steak knives'. The limited players we've picked up since Leppitsch came on board have been delisted free agents (Robinson, McGuane) or traded for low draft picks (West). The exception I suppose is Jackson Paine but I don't think Karnezis had the trade currency that Aish should do.

If we are ever going to take a stand and send a player to the PSD, this is the time. Particularly if we finish last. If we're prepared to take a low-ball offer instead in these circumstances then no one will believe we'd ever re-draft a player instead. Re-drafting a player who wants out is a terrible outcome, but it's a less worse outcome in this context.

I don't buy that Seedsman is a target for us, and I'll post why on the Trade/FA thread. No point repeating myself here.

Must admit I haven't watched too much of him mate. What's to like and dislike about him??
Like: Good size, v quick, breaks the lines, kicks like a mule.
Dislike: Soft as butter, kicking looks good but too often ineffective.

More athletic but less credentialled version of Clinton Young.

Seedsman's upside is tantalising (his best can be awesome), but personally I'd steer well clear if I were you.

I like the fact that he takes the game on. Something we are lacking at the moment.

If James picks the Pies and they offer us crap it's off to the PSD and a life of misery at Carlton

This. It's one thing to get bent over at the trade table, but when it's from collingwood, well that's something completely worse.

Send that hack to the psd and watch him suffer at carlton

190cm, fast and has a big kick on him. Cons are that he has an injury history, is inconsistent and his worst is diabolically bad. In spite of what the papers say I'd be surprised if we put him up. We are relatively light on for players of that type and his talent is highly regarded at the club.

If they want him as part of the Aish trade they will get him, he is behind Maynard, Sharenberg, ox etc
