The amount of bile thrown at Dodoro in particular for not accepting #17 at 9.05am on the first day of trade week was incredible.

It's been eight years since Sheeds left Essendon but for some reason because he said a few stupid things publicly - which he did throughout his whole career - trash media and keyboard warriors want our recruiting manager to pay for it and direct endless abuse at him, some of it actually personal. It boggles the mind.

The guys gets deals done. I've already listed his trade work over he past 5+ years. It stacks up with any club.

Anything less than pick 10 for Carlisle is nothing short of ridiculous. Not to mention the fact he's unlikely to go anywhere but a club that looks like having some success sometime soon. Which ain't St Kilda. You'll have a slight pickle when Riewoldt, Fisher, Gilbert and Dempster retire.

Yep, we're going to be in real trouble when they all retire gradually over the next 3-4 years, just like the Bulldogs were this year after losing the playing services of all of Griffen, Liberatore, Cooney, Higgins and Giansiricusa over just one offseason.

I think it's pretty fair it really comes down to whether st Kilda think they can get a player of greater worth at pick 8 compared to Carlisle.
A second round deal won't cut it as we would be better off accepting carltanks second rounder.
I reckon players such as curnow weidemann and ah Chee are probably in the 8 to 10 frame.

Things affecting Carlisle's trade value:

• Out of contract
• Best form practically unsighted for two seasons
• Has a large disliking for the club (allegedly)
• Will get greater money elsewhere
• Current club is on the decline
• Current club has been devastated by the "supplement saga"
• Potential WADA ban
• Potential to trigger AFLPA clauses to become a Free Agent a la Paddy Ryder's threats

Basically, what I see is a situation where the PSD become's a realistically viable option - unlike every other trade proposition on BigFooty where it's essentially "give us your best player for a third rounder or he'll walk to the PSD lol" talk. There are a myriad of reasons why Carlisle would not stay at Essendon, so it seems unlikely that there is any way that Essendon could prevent him from leaving. As such, if Essendon play their usual hardball, then he'll be out and into the PSD in a heartbeat, IMO. It really does seem like Essendon are backed into a position where they are forced to take what they are given, and will rely on generosity in offers from other clubs (usually performed to keep amicable trade relations, but many clubs will not extend this to Essendon, I imagine, given their reputation). This is especially true if Carlisle receives and agrees to offers from multiple clubs, all of which are in a position to take him in the PSD - due to their finishing position and/or salary cap space.

Anyone with any reasonable level of intelligence can see from a mile away that Essendon are going to get screwed over big time when Carlisle decides to leave and go to another club. They have no leverage on this one at all.

I'm struggling to see how we get a deal done because our first (pick 5ish) is far too much for Carlisle and even if we got Essendon's 2nd rounder as well it wouldn't make it that much better and our 2nd rounder plus extras is probably not enough for them, so I think there would be a fair difference between what the two parties would be willing to accept.

We may be in business though if we traded our first for another club's two mid first rounders. Say Adelaide's first, plus their Dangermouse compo pick (if he leaves) and then we on-trade one of those picks to Essendon for Carlisle. Or we trade our first and 2nd for GWS's first, plus the pick they get for Treloar (if that works out beneficial as far as points go for them) and then do something with one of those picks in a trade for Carlisle.

In ten years he has built a bottom 4 list and not won a final. He is a massive reason why you are so bad. I will be amazed if he survives this review.

Can't see ess breaking even if Carlilse walks. Same as Crameri and Ryder. They had to take less than the player was worth.

Thanks peeps. I'm sure I'd read $700-$800k in the media a while back but

a) I don't believe much I read on the interwebz
b) Jake hasn't really set the world on fire in the last 18 months

I would say he's easily one of the better young KPP in the comp. $500 seems low, $700k seems high-ish. So I guess around 600k. Maybe 650k.

What's interesting from a Carlton fan's perspective is that Carlisle is more likely if we let Henderson go. And he's reportedly on the way out because we won't meet his salary demands.

Hypothetically we trade out Henderson for pick x, send that to Essendon for Carlisle (maybe some pick swapping). We replace Henderson like-for-like(ish), but paying an extra $150k or so. Would only make sense if we thought Jake was clearly better than Lachie and of course he is two years younger.

Carlisle is worth 500 and 550 max. Carlisle is yet another over-rated AFL player.
