To me this whole situation reminds me a little of the Wanganeen return to Port. there's a school of thought that Wanganeen felt pressured to return to Port and the offer was just too good to refuse but he would have preferred to stay at Essendon. Even in his open Mike episode he wouldn't comment when probed on those questions about who he supports, Port or Essendon. Just going through old interviews he says things about all the bonds he has built with the players and he wants to achieve great things with the group and it would feel wrong if they achieved things without him or if he achieved those goals with another group of players. I have no real idea nor do a have and inside information but I just get the feeling that there is outside pressure on Patty to go home. Maybe his fiance just really hates it here and even though it might be his personal preference to stay he also wants to keep her happy.

I get the feeling he's going to go home but really he wants to stay at Adelaide...

I really understand this viewpoint as it applies to me in my professional life. I can work in any country and even though my heart is in Australia, I'm able to get similar professional opportunities in my partner's home country and she really couldn't handle being away from her family at all... so I made the personal choice that her happiness was worth the sacrifice. Miss my mates like hell but they're all moving on with their lives too.

His soon to be wife wants to hear the patter of little feet around the house, his wife's family want to hear the patter of little feet around the house, unfortunately that particular house is not in Adelaide....no problem finding an "unpaid" and trusted babysitter when you have social engagements etc etc when the grandparents are nearby , grand parents like to have their grandchildren living nearby, we really need to get our heads around this is not a football decision for Paddy so much as a family decision...it has zero to do with anything the AFC has done or not done, zero to do with Adelaide the city itself.
