I don't think that, I think the pros will persuade the Committee to accept what's in the best interests of the club, but the Committee will want it to be at least palatable to the members, and at least colourable as being in the club's best interests.

Agree FredLeDeux , one of Adelaides criteria will be to save face by differentiating themselves from ghosts of past skewed deals.
Don't match , grab the compo and then trade with Geelong to sweeten the deal.

I don't think the supporters will find it too hard to understand "We might have lost him for nothing, but we held firm, we didn't get bent over, we acted on principle, we matched the RFA Offer, and made him go to the National Draft".

Heres a tip, if you had been adding something even slightly intelligent you wouldnt have been banned. You chose to deliberately bait, provoke, and be disparaging, thats why you got moved on. Not only did you get yourself kicked out but you set a tone, you pissed off the mods and made it extremely difficult for other Geelong posters to post on the Adelaide board.

Its been quite disappointing to see so many of you booted off the Adelaide board because by geezus it could do with some balance. If you want someone other than The Sloane Ranger to blame maybe direct some of your anger a couple of your own that made the situation untenable.

You'd hope so, if the article is correct that CEO's were given a rough guide that we'd then try and structure a deal that satisfies that whilst being as low as possible or it reduces the leverage we have.

I hope this is the AFL trying to mend the flawed system they have created. A few phone calls or a meeting of the AFL and clubs may be needed to set down some guidelines for RFA deals as well as other trades. Just think...there could be 20 of these RFA debates going next year..

So compensation is gone in a couple of years? They will keep reducing it and then stop it. Geelong's bargaining power just increased a lot.
