You must have me confused with someone else. I didn't listen to any radio on Monday.Says the person who spent all of Monday posting every quote from the radio. Also I never said I believe what's said on the radio.
You last two points make me think the crows will match even if it's not in the best interest of the club as its in the best interest of the committee keeping their jobs and ultimately that is what matters to the people making the decisions.

We will see. It will be a very brave move not to match.I don't think that, I think the pros will persuade the Committee to accept what's in the best interests of the club, but the Committee will want it to be at least palatable to the members, and at least colourable as being in the club's best interests.
We will see. It will be a very brave move not to match.
Their list managers will be quite clear on the facts that (a) matching is very high-risk, and (b) it will be easier to get a result satisfactory to both clubs if they don't match, thereby bringing the bonus pick 14 into play in trade negotiations.
I agree with this. What complicates matters is that it is too complex to explain at a basic level to fans. You last two points make me think the crows will match even if it's not in the best interest of the club as its in the best interest of the committee keeping their jobs and ultimately that is what matters to the people making the decisions.

balsa can you explain why we have a different crow posting copious amounts on the danger thread, and the individual alternates every so oftenjust stop
"... we sure showed them".I don't think the supporters will find it too hard to understand "We might have lost him for nothing, but we held firm, we didn't get bent over, we acted on principle, we matched the RFA Offer, and made him go to the National Draft".
so there's no pressure then…..A 4-time Premiership player, Brownlow Medallist, 4-time Norm Smith Medallist as Geelong will win in 2016, 2017, 2018 & 2019 so no one talks about Hawthorn anymore because we will have won 4-in-a-row!

Heres a tip, if you had been adding something even slightly intelligent you wouldnt have been banned. You chose to deliberately bait, provoke, and be disparaging, thats why you got moved on. Not only did you get yourself kicked out but you set a tone, you pissed off the mods and made it extremely difficult for other Geelong posters to post on the Adelaide board.balsa can you explain why we have a different crow posting copious amounts on the danger thread, and the individual alternates every so often
you understand that on the crows thread we have been banned, and if you cant deal with individuals making comments towards the crow saviour then may I suggest you block certain posters like me

Hmm would 800k be amongst the top 15 earners for 25y.o or older? So players now have to be in top 5% of AFL wage earners to get Round 1 compo pick... That's a spicy meatball.

Would have thought that posting a link about what was said on the radio and believing what was said on the radio were two different things. One is information and the other is an opinion.Says the person who spent all of Monday posting every quote from the radio. Also I never said I believe what's said on the radio.
There goes any chance of the crows getting two picks. Where did that rumour come from? Might not even get 1 first rounder.Hmm would 800k be amongst the top 15 earners for 25y.o or older?
Taking what is probably considered under market value to return home may fall under this statement. No way they'd receive any less than a 1st round for Dangerfield. The committee can recommend alternative outcomes to the AFL's football operations manager Mark Evans if the formula produces a materially anomalous result.

Totally agree. although I'm guessing the implications of your point will be totally lost.Would have thought that posting a link about what was said on the radio and believing what was said on the radio were two different things. One is information and the other is an opinion.
Must have missed the meeting where it became the same thing. Got a link for that?

You'd hope so, if the article is correct that CEO's were given a rough guide that we'd then try and structure a deal that satisfies that whilst being as low as possible or it reduces the leverage we have.I think so.
Interesting to note that Frawley must be on $600k not the reported $450-500kfrom here:
It was revealed that the AFL adds all the base and additional services agreement (ASA) payments of players aged 25 or older, of whom there are about 270, to determine where the free agent's new contract sits.
AFL.com.au understands that if a free agent's new contract puts them in the top five per cent of that group at the time the free agency offer is lodged, then their former club is eligible to receive a first-round compensation pick.
To put that figure in perspective, a wage that ranks in the top five per cent of players aged 25-plus would put the free agent among the game's top 15 earners.
In 2014, the AFL annual report showed that six per cent of AFL players (which includes those under 25 and therefore not part of the sample relevant to compensation) earned more than $600,000. However, the figure needed to earn a first-round pick would be different this year.
I hope this is the AFL trying to mend the flawed system they have created. A few phone calls or a meeting of the AFL and clubs may be needed to set down some guidelines for RFA deals as well as other trades. Just think...there could be 20 of these RFA debates going next year..So players now have to be in top 5% of AFL wage earners to get Round 1 compo pick... That's a spicy meatball.

So compensation is gone in a couple of years? They will keep reducing it and then stop it. Geelong's bargaining power just increased a lot.from here:
