I guess technically they are if you go by the definition of ethnic but it's usually only applied to people from European countries like Italian, Greeks, Croatians.
It's not like Poms don't cause trouble at soccer games either, in fact they were one of the worst in terms of soccer hooligans, but at Perth Glory games I never saw any of that, everyone just went there to drink, sing and have a good time. Much better atmosphere and vibe than AFL games.

The ejection numbers aren't the sole yardstick for the behaviour of a crowd.
Started reading this post thinking it was carrying on from the elephant discussion, was totes confusedIt's more the fact that they definitely don't love Radiohead, because if they did - they'd know there's at so many songs better than Creep.
Some people's head would explode if they attended footy in the 80s. I recently got the Record from the from the first game I ever went to, and there was an ad for a chiller bag that held nine cans, "enough for the whole game". Hoges was telling me to smoke too.
I remember going to cricket at the WACA as a kid back in the 80s where they had bars serving full strength beer and by the afternoon there was always fights breaking out and general feral yobbo behaviour. You just have to look at the Terry Alderman incident where he busted his shoulder tackling some yobbo campaigner that ran on the field with a bunch of other yobbo campaigners.
Was pretty scary as a kid having to walk through crowds of pissed up blokes on your way to buy a can of coke, some chips or an ice cream.
When I was a kid we played street cricket all the time and there was always half a dozen cars parked around. Never ever damaged a car - the cars were treated as fielders, i.e. hit one and it's no run, hit it on the full and you're out. When it was just my brother and I playing, we'd use my dad's work van as a wicketkeeper.I have some stupid kids next door. I live at the end a court.
They play cricket in the middle of the court.
Cars obviously around. Yet they still play cricket thinking they won't cause damage or something.
The thing is I have an alley way walking area at the back of our houses with plenty of space to play cricket there. Yet these dumb f#ck kids have no brains and continue to play out in the middle of the court.
Only a matter of time before they cause some damage.
A place I used to work had a tennis court on the roof and while kicking around a soccer ball I accidentally sent it over the edge (of the 10ft high fencing) and it fell about 10 storeys to the road below. Luckily it didn't hit anyoneAgree. I live in a court and have no choice but to park my car on the street. Wouldn't want some snot nose kid damaging my car. A soccer ball can also smash a windscreen, my workmates car windscreen got smashed at work from one.

29 flares were set off in total, people being ejected for discharging missiles, 9 year old kid being injured (sorry that the bottle wasn't full enough to give him a real injury?). I've never heard of large brawls and people being burnt at AFL games.
Has anything comparable been happening with AFL crowds, or is the media just hiding this from us in some sort of code war conspiracy? I find it hard to believe that AFL crowds are near soccer crowds in terms of troublemaking, even if the media may exaggerate and sensationalise it.

especially when you're squeezing through a group of them on the way back to your seat and they start taking chips from you.
The NSL had clubs set up specifically on ethnic lines (as they had evolved from the specific ethnic community clubs), big difference to the Glory which was relatively neutral.why aren't english persons labelled as ethnics?
Reminds me of primary school where we were allowed to get fish and chips for lunch from a shop across the road and older kids would wait by the school gate to steal chips off the younger kids, if you didn't let them grab a handful of chips they'd beat you up.

id say the term ethnics evolved from saying that someone was a different ethnicity, back when australia had greater british ties, then just became associated with people of Mediterranean origin/heritage. Don't really hear it in reference to asians except for 'ethnic food'fair enough. but i still wonder why english persons living in australia arent deemed ethnic
Checkered shirts, they're ugly unless you're wearing a suit and tie.

The mexican wave is without doubt the most embarrassing thing that happens at sporting events. i can kind of understand why people want to do it at the cricket when its day 3 and one team is already playing for the draw.
however generally it's just unbelievably shit.
When West Coast were winning by whatever in the Qualifying final and the mexican wave went up in the last quarter, it reminded me how ******* backwards perth is.
how is winning a qualifying final and the prospect of a home prelim not good enough for you that you have to start some stupid farkn wave to pass time. i felt really bad for the normal perth people.
