If talls are free or very low picks then go for it otherwise its time for mids. Even on the weekend our best players were mids but we still weren't good enough and that is because only Steven and Billings provide run and spread. Dunstan did ok and Ross did well but they don't provide any run at all. In todays footy you not only need to get rid of it quickly you need to give and get back or give and the other person run with it into space. Need outside mids and I'm unsure is a short or long term answer for that. Gilbo does it ok but apart from the 2 I mentioned I'm unsure there are many others.

Agree with all that. Rebuild would take a huge step forward if 1 of Mckenzie, Freeman, Webster or even White became that gun run and carry Isaac Smith type over the next 2 years. Add 1-2 more absolute elite mids to the list on top of this and we would be starting to put togethet a midfield that could run with the best. Dylan Shiel would be nice.

Gws have 3 first round picks rhis draft, I wonder if they'd be interested in swapping our first rounder in 2017 for one of theres in 2016.

If this draft turns out to be the midfielders Draft as expected we could take 2 quality mids and spread our age demographic a bit.

If there is two midfielders we absolutely love in the top 12 whats wrong with trying to draft both?

I'd be looking and keeping an eye on Lachie Hunter, Whitfield, Steele, Tom Lamb, Langdon from freo, Prestia, JOM, even Sam Day and Watts. Most likely 75% of these will be out of reach, however 1 of these particularly midfielders would be nice addition.

I think we could still send Hickey to Dogs for a late first rounder. Hopefully Roughead doesn't go too well so a ruckman is still on top of their needs list.

Well if there isnt two players we like we don't do it obviously.

But if there is and we nail both we could push fwd the rebuild by a year.

But you don't have a clue before the draft who you will get. And of course if we get 2 quality mids it would be great but I know what will happen if we don't. There will be murder on the dance floor and people saying what do we do in 2017 when we don't have one first round pick. Seems like a hopeful instant fix that may or may not work.

We'd be backing ourselves that we'll perform better next year with two gun draftees, Carlisle, a fit Freeman and another year in our young list.

I appreciate that just adds another 'what if' to your list, but at some point we need to deviate from the draft and concentrate on FAs and it's not looking like this year is a good year to do that so maybe next year will be.

Do you rate Prestia lower due to height, as i believe Prestia has more tickets in the bank?

For Whitfield you might be able to swap the top 4 pick for an over the odds amount of points from lower picks depending on what GWS's production line is looking like
