doubtfuls at this stage are jaksch & whiley. need to show more but have time. phillips plowman sumner lamb are good. like to see lamb off hb. like his work rate and ball use just not sure if he has tricks to be a consistent small forward. sumner gallucci wright thomas may be suited more to that role.

All of the GWS4 would deservedly be playing now, if Phillips wasn't injured.

Sumner is the real surprise for me.
Hunts the ball and the man....leaves nothing behind. He must love playing for Bolton.

The win real though, is Plowman.
You can have too many generals I guess, but he just complements Simpson, Docherty, Weitering and co., beautifully.
We're finally going to have backline on which attacks will be launched from.........just like the good 'ol days.

Well yeah we gave up pick 28 for them...it's conceivable on what we have seen that just one of them would already be worth that.

Pick 28 isn't exactly a great pick.

We'll be pretty well positioned at years end to have a real crack at these two IMO. Hopefully they are seeing what is going on at our footy club and want to be a part of it.

I could do without Marchbank. He'd be costly as he's actually been getting games in the seniors. Kpd isn't a pressing need just yet.

Was apparent even when they were getting pumped in 2012 that SOS prioritises kids with swagger and mongrel. Love that we're finally becoming a team that oppositions won't want to play against, and the GWS boys are a big part of that.

As opposed to being the soft, pushovers we used to be both in play, verbally and the push and shove.

Finally we are the ones giving the lip and playing tough, hard footy and getting physically stuck into our opponents.

Really disappointed as it stand with the Jaksch trade. Whiley was thrown in as steak knives but nothing has come of the guy who we gave up pick #7 for. We then went with Boekhorst at pick #19. Players that went before him that we could have taken -

Paul Ahern, Peter Wright, Nakia Cockatoo, Liam Duggan, Corey Ellis, Lachlan Weller, Jake Lever, Jarrod Garlett, Sam Durdin.

Peter Wright stands out for mine as one we could have really used. I think we identified it as a shallow draft and that talent was pretty even through the back of the 1st round. Still, if you trade for a player that doesn't come on it's a waste of a trade. I am concerned what is happening in our 2's side with these guys playing and getting smashed by 100+ points for the past two weeks. I know there is 22 guys on the park but if these guys expect to be making the seniors there needs to be some leadership to stop the bleeding in these types of games.

I'd want Weller or lever out of that list.
Imagine him with Weitering and Plowman.

The rest haven't done that much yet, except maybe duggan but he was always West coast bound

Plowman will be the best of them I think. Sumner, Lamb and Phillips have really impressed me too.

Don't think too much of Jaksch or Whiley. Jaksch had moments at GWS where he looked good, but to me it looks like he hasn't kicked on since being traded.

Would like to say how awesome your backline is going to be over the next few years. Always liked Simpson and now he has some serious young talent around him to help him out in the twilight of his career. Weitering, Docherty and Plowman are all guns already and will only get better.

I thought Lamb was simply used as 'steak knives' by GWS because he was rumoured to be on big $ and The Giants wanted him off their books, but he has been the biggest surprise packet for me, no one should be surprised how well Sumner is going considering that he was a former top ten draft pick.

Phillips may well be the most valuable commodity we got, considering the dearth of quality ruckmen who can play around the ground. His game against Essendon where he sealed the deal after a clunk of a mark and goal was stirring stuff.

All of that quartet has bought something to the table, tidy piece of trading by SOS

Pretty shaw I read somewhere, out of the midfielders Rogers only had Patracca Brayshaw and Duggan ahead of Boekhorst.
Also heard he really liked Marchbank at pick7, which would have never happened.
So we would have picked Duggan. Meh. His been ok in a very strong team, can't really say I'm kicking myself over us not having him.
Imagine being a Richmoan supporter watching Lennon (pick 12)run around in the 2's when they could of had Cripps (Pick13)

Can't make that call - because the poor bloke has been injured when he arrived and is now injured again - early on Bolton was giving him opportunity - more than Jacksh has earned so far..it is all a bit weird with Jacksh - we need a tall up front and we have needed talls down back - and Jacksh doesn't get a look in.

I'm more inclined to agree with you at this stage- except that in his defense, early games - a lot of the newbies looked way off pace - I thought Lamb was absolute rubbish for example , but each week he is getting better and is starting to look dangerous now.

I think we are one KPD off setting up our defence for the next 10 years with Weitering and Plowman. Marchbank would be ideal imo

Let's not forget Kristian Jaksch is only 21 years old...

Same age and draft as Plowman.

I have time for young KPF. Hopefully he can get some senior exposure soon as start cementing his spot in the 22.

We did get their first rounder from memory in return which gave us Harry McKay so with the pick next year being like to be at best 15 we did alright with that.

I was always bullish about Plowman but the other three players have been pleasantly surprising. It looks like Plowman could become an integral part of our side when we push for finals and the other three may be good 17-22 type players.
Looks like this trade could be a winner at this early point
