You're happy to see him walk? He's 4th in the goalkicking tally right now in the AFL. He's on track for a 60 goal season. He's been way better than Tex this season.

I would not be fine if he walked. We can't lose another key player.
It's a tough position to be in, he's having a really good purple patch and driving up his value, but you have to take into consideration that value over 4 years.

Ideally we just never played silly buggers with a 2 year contract offer in the pre-season and signed him up for 4 years and 400K like we should have.

Which is why we need to sign him ASAP. Adelaide need to get their shit together and not let it drag on until the end of the season.

Shows he's a smart footballer and gets into good positions to kick easy goals.

It's just our way of beating the zone defenses, if the opposition is going to push their defenders up the ground to try keep us in their forward line, we will keep a forward deep to score an easy goal when we get through. it makes teams keep their defenders deep which opens up holes in their zone defense.

Expect more than a couple "joe the gooses" against the eagles, because they push their defenders up high.

He's kicked 14 from the Goal square, but he's also had 14 goal assists. So he's gotten on the end of 14 but he has created another 14.

not all of those 14 are cheap ones over the top, he's taken a few contested marks in the goal square as well.

Why we leave signings to the last year I have no idea. If someones in your plans keep them signed up. You can trade contracted players if it all falls down.

Couldn't agree more. Contract management at the AFC needs some serious attention and dragging into the 21st century.

4.5 over 6 years I'm hearing. Done and dusted. Afc lifer
Wow that would be a massive increase in what we were said to have offered first up. 750k over 6 is huge money

wow, really? 6 years is a hell of a long way down the road, he's not 23.

he'd better be getting half of that next year... its in the upper bracket of dollar value but realistically too long a contract I think. If true of course.

massive price to pay for the club seemingly not backing him/underrating him at the start of the year.

Yeah, I would have said "I'll be really ****ing pissed off" if we don't retain him.

The player has to agree to the deal too.

Why sign early if you think you can boost your value and/or hold out for more?

Not our fault we develop players to high standards so they have opportunities to get top dollar for their services.

Reckon in the small chance it's a 6 year deal (lord knows why they go from nothing but 2 to 6) then you'd expect it to be heavily front loaded so that the last 2 years aren't huge drains on the cap.
Why do people think we were only offering 2 initially? The lowest number of years I heard in the early days was 3, never 2. His management probably asked for 5, we've met in the middle at 4, and he'll stay. Until Connors is back from overseas there won't be an announcement.
