If we are offering $750k for 6 years what must Brisbane be offering?

No way we would go that high.

At 27 -28 his next contract offer from us is clearly going to take him past the 30. How many players have we signed on a long term contract well past their 30th? Even Thomo has been getting 1 year extensions. On past performances the only way I can see it is if he gets 3 years plus 3 or whatever conditional on yearly performance criteria.
Or the club has thrown the old / existing contract model out the window.

Has improved every season. Just pay him a pile of dough and offer him Ruccis job when he's finished.

It's ridiculous money but you have to remember that teams will actually be running around with forward lines like White/Cloke and Mayne/Taberner next season.

There's such a shortage of even decent tall forwards that JJ can command top dollar despite his shortcomings.

You're happy to see him walk? He's 4th in the goalkicking tally right now in the AFL. He's on track for a 60 goal season. He's been way better than Tex this season.

I would not be fine if he walked. We can't lose another key player.
My point is you don't sell the farm to keep him .......as an example by paying Jenkins $800K per year, we miss the ability to get a Neale as an example (extreme example)......are you saying that you'd be happy with that scenario?

Another example .......by paying Jenkins we are unable to upgrade the contract for McGovern, who's being courted by the Eagles (again just an example)

B4 you say "pay him anything to keep him" ......put that statement into its correct context ;)

800k is unrealistic anyway. We don't pay anyone at the club that much (I think) and he won't be the first. I would pay him 600k MAX but 550 which was rumoured by Damo is what the Crows should go with and hopefully he accepts.

The rumored offer from Brisbane was $750K ......also believe Essendon is back in that game

$550 over 4 years, with the expected big increase in the TPP is a good result IMO

Fine, Essendon can have him and we'll take Hurley. Hurley would kick 50 goals a season as a third tall for us and we can play him back too.

Ahh look, I agree with that (as a matter of the impact on the negotiations) to agree, but I think there's a limit to it and a point where they'll have to move from that position.

At a certain level of goal scoring I think it becomes improbable to label the scorer a receiver alone. On current pace, he'll kick 70 goals. That's the elite range in the modern game. I'm not sure that there's a precedent for a forward scoring at that level in the modern game and not being considered elite.

You've probably got a point. There has to be a point where raw production out weighs everything else regardless of the how's and whys.

Our sling shot footy creates a lot of fast turnovers, and space for a quick gazelle like JJ to run into. We saw that 3 or 4 times on the weekend

If he goes to another club he'll make Warwick Cappers move to Brisbane look like a success.

As previously stated I reckon that's the offer from another club. He did have the mail on talia bros before it dropped.
