How much would you pay Josh Jenkins?

I keep asking this who do we get to replace him ready to go? 650K is about the right money. Eddie and Lynch would be on the same money and Tex around the 650K mark. Names such as Vickery, Daw and Day have been mooted but none would be as good as JJ. Why change something that is working a treat?
It has been well documented that Eddie was signed on as a RFA to a 4 year, $2 million deal (i.e. $500K per season)....a bargain.

Again, for $650K you are talking an elite key forward, #1 option, someone you absolutely build the forward line around. Again, you don't have to replace him with the player that gives you the same goal output. Our issue is not scoring. Hell even with Jenkins kicking 40 goals last season we were a very high octane scoring team. I am not looking to replace the 60-70 goals but if I can get 40-50 goals for $450-500 while improving in other areas I am absolutely open to it.

Rory Lobb is not producing at JJ's current level but he will be a better overall player than Jenkins in 2 years time. I would be VERY comfortable using the money we penciled in for JJ (let's say 4 years at $550K per year) and offering it to Lobb.

The issue here is that good teams don't pay the market value. Do you think Hawthorn pay market value for Hodge, Mitchell, Lewis, Roughead, Burgoyne, Gunston etc???? What about Geelong with Selwood, Hawkins, Dangerfield, Taylor etc...?

Good teams, in order to keep the group together and have a shot at the flag pay their stars below the market value. If player wants more, they are happy to let them go (see Geelong with Ablett, Hawks with Buddy etc...). Just because a team is offering stupid terms, it doesn't mean that we have to be stupid with them.

Heard from a reliable source from Western Australia, the Dockers have now made Jenkins their number one target.

$3.6 million over 4 years.

Brisbane getting a priority pick in this whole Jenkins trade debate would be interesting - especially if he decides to go there after kicking 70 goals

70 goals , 700+ pa contract = top 10 pick in my eyes even if he's not really worth that

Reckon you are on the money. Can't see the Crows paying these $$ for JJ at this stage.

I'd say JJ is going to take the money and if we get an early pick in return we may not be unhappy about that either, especially if we can nab someone with what we were going to offer JJ along with an early pick from the Lions.

We have to pay market rate or overs to keep players here. Good luck trying to entice Lobb to come here, J. Cameron turned down a million to join us.
An elite KPF starts at 750K these days and the best get a million now. The salary cap will rise and that means blokes like Eddie will get a pay rise.
650K for JJ and Tex is paying unders IMO.
I doubt if you will get JJ's production out of any of the touted replacements. Your comments on good teams retaining players paying for flags is true but I believe this is exactly what we would be doing by keeping JJ.

He isn't a top forward but.

He is a very good 3rd string key forward. He would struggle big time to have a huge impact as there number 1 key forward.

He should know his role and shut his mouth.

No more than $555,000 a year. Maximum I'd go - $1,700,000 over 3 years

His numbers say differently. When Tex has been average JJ has stood up. This is important. Yes, he gets more with our structure with his size/agility.
I think many are undervaluing him.

What are his numbers like without Tex or Lynch in the side?

A reliable source in your head, or...?

We'll take Neale and their first then, thanks. Enjoy your time in Fremantle Josh!

No forward would want to go to Fremantle would they? The lowest scoring, most defensive, boring team around. Now with the added dimension of sucking.

I'd do it for 900k a year. They won't suck for long.

After tax and agent fees - about $520,000

However, if they can land Jenkins and McCarthy with Tavener and then maybe convince Pavlich to go around again - that becomes a very formidable forward line.

Neale plus their 2nd rd pick if they're that desperate

900K a year for Jenkins? That's ludicrous, he's a fine player under our system because of our development and while playing in our forward line, he would not have half the goals he has this season if he played for Fremantle.

But if they're that desperate we can always take Neale off their hands.

If teams really want him on a long term deal over 700K it would take a massive thought. Thing is, what are these clubs going to pony up in terms of trades if they want him that badly.

The man himself said he was keen to stay, which is more than Tippo or Voldemort did. These offers just make us work a bit harder. I reckon 650K for 4 years.

We cannot lose this bloke.

News just in.. jenkins offered captaincy and 2 million a year at lions and senior coach 2020 onwards!

You know you're just making a jackarse out of yourself. I don't believe he will leave and said numerous time before.

Just passing on information I've heard today at a Clontarf Foundation conference.
