I actually like Sanders, a hell of a lot more than I do Hilary, because he stands for something.
IMO a fair bit of the love for Trump is that he is not part of the establishment and is willing to tell them to **** off.

Agree - if the US was serious about addressing factors like the decline of the middle class, then Sanders would be a more viable option though he'd struggle to get anything through a Republican Congress. Trump just isn't the answer to any of America's real ills.

Fair enough, I'll try and do my part.

I'm surprised how long it's taking Sanders to concede:

Can't work out whether he really believes that he can flip super-delegates this late in the piece, whether he's trying to negotiate something (what?) or whether he is just struggling to come to terms with the end of his campaign. I suspect the latter but the longer it drags out, the worse it looks for him (and whatever he might be trying to negotiate).

There's a real disconnect, I feel, between the public and the establishment.
I find the same here in Australia with Federal Politics. A lot of people are disenfranchised and disconnected because they all appear as bad as each other.

It's just a shame Trump has such radical views.

I like Bernie too, I originally supported him too. I don't remember when I switched to Trump, probably around the time the BLM protesters took the mic from Bernie.

Anyway, I think Bernie hasn't dropped out because the majority of his supporters don't want him to drop out.

Have a look at his online campaign headquarters: https://www.reddit.com/r/sandersforpresident

What they want more than anything is to feel like they actually have an influence on the American political system after feeling disenfranchised for so long. Many of them believe that preventing Crooked Hillary becoming president is their only possible way to have a positive influence on the system, and I tend to agree.

I don't buy the silent majority supporting Trump, and demographics would support this.

Propaganda piece, pay it no heed. The bought-out media have been saying that Donald Trump will lose for a year now. They said he'd drop out of the primaries. That he was running as a joke. That he wouldn't win a single delegate. That he wouldn't win a single state. That he wouldn't clinch the 1237 and the nomination.

These people are jokes and they've been proven to have NFI what they are talking about. This is just another case of denial, next one will be "Trump can't win a second term", count on it.

It's a very Nixonian tactic, he was the one started with all that silent majority guff.

Yeah it's just a lazy way to weasel your way out of explaining yourself and shutting down debate, whilst somehow automatically putting any opposing views on the back foot by inherently suggesting they are a minority view.

HAHAHAHAHA I WAS RIGHT!!!! http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/aug/02/donald-trump-republican-presidential-nomination

Even when it was clear that Donald Trump was dominating the polls, the author of your little article was still saying he couldn't do it. Someone is just salty!

Trump’s success in the polls is unlikely to translate to success when votes are cast. There are simply too many Republicans who would never consider voting for him. Beyond that, being good at politics is a skill – one that Trump does not appear to possess. Stirring up some Republican voters and winning their early support is all well and good, but to win the nomination, Trump would need to expand his support, and there’s little indication that he will be able to do that.

If Trump wasn't such a redneck, I would support him over Hilary assuming Sanders was eliminated. I disagree with Hilary and all that she stands for and represents. The real issue for me, and I think a fair proportion of the American population, is that there is no real alternative. People don't want Hillary, but they don't want Trump.

When push comes to shove, I think a large number of people are voting for Trump as a way of voting against the Washington establishment.

I don't think the media has been fair in their coverage of Trump. I would have agreed with you on this for quite a few months, based on the media reports I had seen. But when I watched the primary sources, e.g. his rally speeches on YouTube, I felt deceived by the media for how they portrayed him, and agreed with him on a lot of points.

And I'm no redneck, I'm one of those well-educated latte sippers who votes for the Greens.

Your posting history would suggest otherwise.

I'm still shocked that anyone could support Trump regardless of how you feel about Hilary ...this guy is an insult to humanity.

Just shocked by the support he receives

He's a very likeable person!

Which part do you take issue with?

Am I a redneck? Am I not well-educated? Am I not a latte sipper? Do I not usually vote for the Greens?

Despite with my preference to Trump winning, I'd dig deeper and look at the source for what Trump does instead of what clickbait headlines say.

He is hardly an insult to humanity. It is just his opposition wants him to look that way because there is an election, y'know!

Yeah because we should all look past the rape of his wife, the insults and the degradations of minority groups.

What a fantastic leader

A redneck? He's a New York business mogul who was born into money. He's about as far removed from a redneck as you can get.

This Orlando situation was not a confirmed terrorist attack early on and did not have a stand alone thread on SRP hence the discussion on it ending up in here.
