If we get an early third round pick for Mayne, we could trade Our 3rd (39) and Mayne Compo (40) for McCarthy. Those 2 picks together equals 875 points in total, valuing it at pick 22. Would then trade our 2017 second for Brad Hill.
But if we trade those two picks, don't they still remain picks 39 and 40? I don't get the points system or how it works.

Maybe I'm a bit of fanboy. He's not quick, but he has speed from the contest and is one of the few blokes we have that tackle. He has all the tools to be a good (I didn't say great) inside midfielder but lacks continuity. Every time he strings some games and gets his confidence back he's injured again and we're back to the start. I would like to hold on to him because his best is good and we need his ability to tackle. We also probably won't get what he's worth to us in a trade. I'm not saying he's a star. But you wouldn't be getting a dud. Get his hammies right and you might end up with a bargain for you second pick.
Reckon he could play as a small rebounding defender?

The crazy bit with any of these proposed machinations for trading is that we end up with even less (decent) picks. Do we really want to be taking a draft of pick 3 then pick 60 odd and then beyond? (Particularly given many want to get rid of 6-8 players of the main list?)

You have to wonder if our management are doing their job, or trying to save their career. It feels like we are
rudderless, are we following a plan, or making one up as we go?
Our best team on the park is at least competing for the top eight, having so many injuries, you have to question why.
Rather keep our cards close to our chest, than feel like the club is at rock bottom, and so many players linked to us,
makes it look desperate.

The media links players to us not the club.

We were never going to get him so I'm actually glad he's staying there rather than going to Hawks or Sydney and making them even stronger.
Exactly.

This North are a sinking ship. Just wait until all their 30+ year old guns are gone. They'll be absolutely stuffed and the rages by Brad Scott will be absolutely amazing. Happy to see Wood play for a team like that than making a better team stronger.

Nah shes right. Griffiths on the other hand
Griffiths isn't any better than Vickery and if he is then it's not by much. Both will cost decent picks (Vickery will eliminate all compensation for Mayne) and aren't much of an upgrade on Taberner (if at all) who has a lot more improvement left. I'm much happier targeting McCarthy and one or two of the others we've been linked to. Only want players from other clubs who are potential guns or are going to cost us peanuts. Griffiths turns 26 next year so he'd want to be hitting his best soon. Does one or two thing very well but just isn't that great IMO.

Sydney are the only team that's really recruited already elite KPFs semi regularly. A few youngsters have been traded and become good players (players who've been in the system 2-3 years) but I can't really think of a KPF who's been average at their first club for 5+ seasons and has gone on to be a gun at their second club.

I rather trial rookie kietal, darcy cameron , n.ronda and some US tall giant then getting vic, apart maybe the derby match.

By the way did anybody here know what deboer did that cause Ross put him as non playing emergency all the time. I think he still be useful in afl for team like gold coast and brisbane . Cant believe the treatment he get compare to suban, gu and clarke .
