Because they couldn't wait to see what happens during the season before extending his contract.

The first 6 rounds would have been enough.

It just made no logical sense to give a coach a 2 year extension prior to the season when the last 2 seasons we were in positions early in the year that made it hard/near impossible for us to make finals.

The writing was on the wall that with a harder draw later in the season, young teams improving more than us etc. that another poor start could mean our season wouldn't end in finals.

Is every seat up for grabs and it's a first past the post system for every candidate until the board is full? Meaning we could get a mix of old and new?

Or is each seat directly contested between both groups and you vote for each seat? Or do you just vote for one group vs the other?

Regardless of extension time frame he was crapping on relentlessly every morning that the board need to be strong and make a statement saying that Hardwick is the man to take this club forward. The board need to re-sign Hardwick to show him belief as he deserves it and the club does not need media scrutiny 6 rounds in if we have a bad start. This was before a ball had been bounced and totally unnecessary. It wasn't just a passing comment either it was a relentless orchestrated campaign. I was totally against it and it made my skin crawl every time he went on about it. When the signing was announced by our brains-trust i instantly became #ECO.
I agree the board need to be held accountable but so does KB as he has power with his media platform and in this instance it was abused.

No argument from me. I was all for leaving it until after the bye. All the mixed messaging and lack of strategy coming from the board and executive has lead us to this point. If they were influenced by KBs media commentary it's just another indicator that they don't know what they're doing on the FD front

KB was the one who started this sh1t with his non stop incessant trumpeting on SEN the need for the tigers to re-sign Hardwick prior to the season starting. He has a huge part to play in the predicament we find ourselves in today.

Easy... New board comes in, spends money left right and centre trying to "fix" everything they can (perhaps by sacking DH and paying out his contract). Borrow money, put the club back in debt and then 5~10 years down the track the club is paying far too much interest to the banks and they're asking supporters to dig deep again.

Many things this board can hang it's hat on is great facilities (massive upgrade on what we had prior), improved branding, stable corporate sponsorship, returned the Richmond VFL side, income from the VFL side playing home games at Punt Rd, and are debt free.

Where this board has lacked is making the on field crew of playing list, coaching staff, development staff and recruiting staff accountable.

I'll wait and see what they bring to the table.

One thing that does make me chuckle is when people say we need young blood on the board, fresh ideas etc... and then the headline is "two former Richmond premiership players are on the ticket"... Last premiership was 36 years ago! Not much young blood in there lol

Humm lest see your happy with what we have and don't want changes? Like a lot of people that have woken up are saying if this idiots in charge did the right thing we wouldn't be having this discussion.
