+1 here. seems like a massive waste of coin

i'd love one person to explain, if hartlett is so good why are port considering trading a contracted player?
Could be...

1. There's discord in the camp - rumoured breach with Travis Boak over a woman.
2. Port have salary cap problems and combined with (1) they think that offloading HH is the best way to alleviate that.

Of course the most likely explanation is...

3. PortAadelaide have realised that he just ain't that good.

----

I'm more in the camp of saying let's see if we can get a decent 'unders' deal done. Luckily our coach is the former Director of Coaching at PA so whichever way we decide to go regarding trading him will be highly informed.

Port aren't trading him to get him out. They want a high draft pick or a player that is highly rated. If they don't get it they'll probably keep him.

top10 pick
they're no good so they would like to get some youngsters in

When theyre dead set keen on finals and a flag.... dont buy it

I think you have to put this in context -
1/ Port have had 3 under performing seasons in a row after looking like world beaters
2/ Hinkley's job is well and truely on the block
3/ Hartlett had an ordinary season for the first time and had just signed a big contract extension on good coin
4/ Port are going to swing the axe big time (they have to be seen to be doing something and fast) - they will want to go after picks and players to turn it around
5/ Someone at Port needs to be the scapegoat and a player that hasn't hit the heights needs to be made an example of

I think theyre selling whilst he still has value and they dont rate him as highly as some on here. So hes the obvious choice to trade out rather than others on the list

I think 1 were just incorrect rumours and i think youre onto something with point 3. I think theyre cap is screwed and the cost benefit of keeping him isnt there

This

I get the feeling port feel isnt worth what theyre paying him and he wont ever reach that level. I think hes the expandable one and the least effective mid.

Massive pass

Now we can concentrate on the real stuff, and after watching the game on Saturday, I think like other people that we need to keep building a champion team, and not like our previous rebuilds.

I think our previous teams were heavily reliant on our super stars.

On Saturday, the dogs were a more even team across the board, so I am hoping that we continue on our current course and we dont spend too much on 1 player.

He's saying they paid a million bucks but could have drafted Wright for nothing more than a draft pick, the development that Boyd had already didn't fast track him over Wright.

Yes I know and I'm saying that's obvious because he looks the goods and that is hindsight. Do the bulldog fans now give a stuff Boyd cost to much. I will take a punt that many did now no one does

Id bring bootsma back on a mill a year if he could win us a gf. For at least the next 6 months not one doggie fan would give a stuff!

There is nothing wrong with having champions if you manage the SC right. Pretty sure Hawthorn and Geelong proved that. We proved we couldn't managed our SC. I think the thought that you don't trade for champions is flawed. And don't worry by the time the WB are stuffed people will see 4 or 5 champions in that side on the weekend. Its the same as Hawthorn in 2008.

Because of the many many posts i have to catch up on everyday I've became adept at skim reading or so i thought but had to read this again after trying to workout what super coach had to do with winning a grand final.

I think the bye before finals had far greater impact on the dogs winning a flag than Tom Boyd.

Dogs should be paying Gillion a million bucks a year
Bottom line is that Boyd stood up in a GF.
Could easily be his turning point with the albatross lifted from around his neck.

Next year will tell if he realises his potential or becomes another Nathan Ablest.

Why aren't saints going after Mackenzie
Perfect 3rd tall and Dempster replacement for then next couple years so why

Because he's 28, coming off an ACL and not a 3rd tall?!

And who says we aren't?

Would love for the Saints to be the destination club of players like Mitchell instead of fn Hawthorn.

Saints have done the hard yards, need to continue to do so and improve
Apparently Tom Mitchell's dad resigned from his job at Hawthorn. As good as done, hopefully we throw a few bombs to rock this trade a little

How many goals and marks did the bye kick and take on Grand Final day.

This denial of what Boyd did on Saturday is perplexing.

Fact is Boyd was in many eyes BOG on Saturday.

Bulldogs, money well spent
