Yep, that seems strange - but I thought we wouldn't get comp for him anyway. Cannot see a spot for him on our list - someone will surely grab him ?

I think we'll retain him for a packet of chips. However I hope he is delisted

Me too - that was what I wanted to be picked up for in Free Agency (with the hope of maybe a sneaky 3rd rounder thrown in for comp). I cannot see a reasoning for keeping him. Thommo has a tenuous back-up in case of emergency role and maybe a splinter of coaching the SANFL mids (maybe) ... but Hendo needs to find a new home where he can play on the wing and have some worth.

The only way for that to get out is for Lyons management to have leaked it. Not exactly a good move when trying to extract the best offer out of an interested club. I would highly doubt this to be the case, unless it's a reporter asking clubs if they're interested in him and accepting all the "no's" that they got in response as being fact.
Or it is second hand from someone who actually knows him well....
Doesn't really serve any other purpose does it??

It wouldn't serve any positive purpose at all. Counterproductive to what Lyons is trying to achieve. Sounds pretty odd to me, not just that he'd let people know he has no offers, but also that he has no offers.

If we aren't getting anything for Hendo I'd rather sign him up for a one year contract at base payment. Worth more to us than someone like Grigg or a 4th rounder.

Correct. Good call. Having depth is crucial as injuries do and can happen. At a base payment, better than having Grigg or a 4th who will take time to come on and unlikely play for us or have any meaningful impact in 2017.

Jordan Lewis has reportedly decided to join Melbourne.

Lewis has turned down a larger deal from Gold Coast that would have helped Jaeger O'Meara get to Hawthorn and has made a commitment to Melbourne, according to a Herald Sun report.

Triple M's Jay Clark had previously reported Melbourne would offer Lewis a three-year deal and would give up a low pick to secure him.

Lewis, Hawthorn's vice-captain, has played 264 games for the Hawks, winning four premierships, as well as a best and fairest and All-Australian selection in 2014.

Brendan Fevola previously suggested on Triple M's Dead Set Legends Lewis was "100%" playing for Melbourne next season.

I swear so many deals are falling through at the moment, looks like a number of players aren't going to move. Rocky, Motlop, Lids, Adams, Pickett, Marsh, Lyons... list goes on

EXCLUSIVE: HAWTHORN vice-captain Jordan Lewis has rejected a proposed move to the Gold Coast to help facilitate the Jaeger O’Meara trade and could be a Melbourne player by the end of Monday.

The Herald Sun revealed on Sunday Lewis has been offered a three-year deal by Melbourne and sources say the midfielder has mentally committed to the Demons.

Hawthorn said on Friday Lewis won’t be traded, but the club has changed its mind and will facilitate the trade to help extend Lewis’s glittering career.

Hawthorn wingman Billy Hartung could also be on the move to Brisbane along with utility Brendan Whitecross in a bid to clinch the trade for Gold Coast star Jaeger O’Meara.

The Hawks offered Hartung, 21 and Whitecross, 26, to the Lions in exchange for pick No. 21.

Hawthorn hope to swap picks No. 21 and No. 10 to the Suns for O’Meara.

Lewis, 30, has one year left on his Hawthorn contract, but wants to play under Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin, who he has already had discussions with.

Melbourne is eager to snare Lewis to help bolster its leadership stocks but the Demons may only be prepared to offer pick No.66 or even No.84 for Lewis.

The savvy on-baller’s next move is to officially request a trade and sources say that could be done on Monday.

In a stunning period of developments at the Hawks, Lewis’s name was proposed to Gold Coast and it’s understood the Suns were prepared to pay Lewis more than what Demons plan to.

The Hawks on Friday traded away a future first-round pick and two second-round picks to secure St Kilda’s No.10 pick, which they hope will help satisfy Gold Coast’s demands for O’Meara.

A leading player manager on Saturday labelled the trade as “one of the worst’’ he has seen.

They are leaving for peanuts, and Lewis is blowing their Jaeger deal. Lol.

Why arent we pulling the trigger on Rockliff?
Ive heard we think he is too slow and doesnt fill our needs. If true I think we are nuts considering the price.
Let's see what happens after we nail Gibbs to our mast. We have been talking to Rockliff the longest, he knows where we stand.

I dont believe brisbane are offering Rockliff for a 2nd. If they wait a year they will probably get pick 2 for him as a free agent.
They certainly are trying to start fresh without him in 2017 though. The price will reflect that push imo. Whoever gets him should be ecstatic to get a quality player on the cheaper side.

AA last year in a shitful side. The posters saying Gibbs is an A-grader and can't crack AA because he plays for the Blues must think Rocky will turn into GAJ if he comes to us. It makes no sense, they rated him highly enough to make him captain, but is now looking like being delisted next year with no one interested. A 2nd rounder for him is a no brainer, we gave up one for Hampton who might or might not make it. Rocky's a certainty.

There does come a point where you can 'jump the shark' as they say. Not saying Hawthorn have stuffed up here, as you say they've got runs on the board.

Completely agree. They're not infallible and they might have stuffed up

But with their record, and ours, we need to shut the bleep up until it becomes clearer

Otherwise it's like John Meesen lecturing sauce Jacobs on how to make it as a ruckman in the AFL
