Why do we need to clear cap space when we've just lost five senior listed players (Enright, Bartel, Kersten, Vardy and Smedts)?

One they wanted to play on, two they wanted to stay, and two were contracted but apparently we now need to clear that cash to survive?

Well Kersten smedts and Vardy would clear around 400k-500k basically what we have brought Tuohy in for but then we still need to pay back ended contracts and new recruits, you dont think we could afford 4 new players in their prime on last years cap so nifty contract work would have been done by Cook....

Brett Anderson on SEN has said Caddy may be part of the Deledio trade to GWS now. Perhaps we are getting pick 15?

Carl trade geel 2017 1st to gws (marchbank)
Gws trade geel 17 1st to rich (deledio)
Gws trade 15 to geelong caddy to rich
Rich trade 24 to gws
Geel throw in late pick to gws (3rd rnd or so)

Yeah, I expect the clarification they sought yesterday was to enable one of two trading strategies today, either back in to R1 or more of the cavalier future trading stuff for known quantities

This mentality that we've been reamed this trade period is rubbish. Tuohy deal was very fair. Apart from that any other player movements like Vardy & Kersten are immaterial anyway.

I'll withhold judgement until after the trade period ends (maybe there's a plan for 63), but on face value the Kersten trade looks sub-optimal.
