Wasn't Jobe the captain of the club at the time they undertook a now proven doping program?
And didn't he benefit from said proven doping program?
And now he's some sort of hero for handing back the individual best and FAIREST award?
The club is apologising? Rightly so.
But he should apologise too. He was the captain. He was the leader. He was a person who had standing to ask the hard questions when the strange practices at the club were occurring. He had years of experience of the many ASADA briefings and education sessions. He was a highly paid professional. It was his job to know what was going on. He should apologise to all those young players at the club that looked to him for an example. It may be harsh but when he needed to show leadership he was found wanting and players have suffered for 4 years.
Should have given the Brownlow back a long time ago.

It will be interesting to see if any opposition players are up for sledging Jobe for being a drug cheat.

Sam Mitchell did it in the past. Don't think Jobe would handle it well and it would put him off his game and would quite possibly pack it in.

Mack Horton did it to a Chinese swimmer and no one at the HS had a problem with it. I suppose there was no "comfortable doubt" on that one.

Essendon captain Jobe Watson has made the stunning admission he took the banned substance AOD-9604, but the AFL's reigning Brownlow Medallist remains adamant he did nothing wrong.

The star onballer said on Monday night he took the anti-obesity drug after signing a consent form.
"I signed that consent form and my understanding, after it being given through (club doctor) Bruce Reid and the club, that I was receiving AOD," he told Fox Sports program On The Couch.

Set to lose a 1st and 2nd round draft picks but not pick number 2. The AFL are pathetic, why should a club found guilty of cheating a drug test get the 2nd best player in the country? That was the argument as to why we lost our first 2 picks? Take pick 2 off them to make it really hurt, it is not as if they dont have enough first round picks on their list.

Whitfield, Allan, Lambert and GWS should be punished according to the crime. Took drugs. Hidden by club officials for three days. GWS conducts its own investigation and white washes the circumstances by blaming the girlfriend. What's to defend here? Cue AFL trying to protect the games image. Legal reps trying to protect guilty clients by plea bargaining. AFL trying to protect its investment in Western Sydney. The result. Questionable deals behind closed doors. What the **** is ASADA doing?

I'm sad Dre has retired, yeah he is bit of a waste of talent, but obviously footy is such a professional, gruelling and full time occupation these days, think we'll see more of these players fall by the wayside unfortunately.

He would have thrived and been a big star in the 80s or even the 1990s.

Players now have to make more sacrifices and work and train harder than ever (and yes they are paid better than any time in the history of the game)
