Something in particular has been bugging me of late.

The increasingly popular abbreviation 'kys', meaning kill yourself. Not only is it an indictment on the education system...

Call me an "old" 22 year old here, but I agree.
People on the internet that dont have a correct use of grammer, spelling ect iritate me endlessly.

With school being digitialitsed these days, as early as Primary, The use of of the english language that we know is somewhat of a lost art. Im very much against the online abbreviations. Get the kids to learn to write.

Not sure if serious.

Is it really to a level that is detrimental to the men's game, though? I don't really think so.

It's an opportunity for women who want to compete in these sports to do so in a professional environment, and possibly opens up new viewers and interest to the game that might not have been interest in the men. If it gets to the point where they see the cost far outweighing the benefit, like any business or sporting league/team, it'll fold.

I don't really see why the existence of these leagues causes so much angst and hand-wringing. The WNBL and W-League have existed just fine for years in conjunction with the male equivalent. Is it just because footy and cricket are traditionally male-dominated sports, and (I hate to turn it into a gender-based argument) some men see this as an encroachment on their "territory"?

Who said anything about detriment? It's a sideshow IMO. Women's footy in general just gets way too much airtime in the AFL media.

The WNBL and W-League have much lower profile male counterparts than the AFL. The average wage in the AFL is $300k with the top players pushing $1m. In the NBL it's $100k and the A-League $150k. If you're a squad player for the Wildcats or Glory it's not exactly a glamorous life. Bit hard to push the 'women should be full time professional athletes just like the men' when the men are only just that.

Most people also don't give a shit about the WNBL/W-League because they never see or hear about them. If you go to the A-League or NBL websites you'll find news about those competitions. If you are interested in the W-League or WNBL then you go to those websites. Simples. It's pretty rare to check out afl.com.au these days without at least one article about women's footy.

If you want to inspire kids to write, make sure they read. I'd defy anyone to read Tim Winton, or Kerouac, or HST, or Gideon Haigh, and not go "I wish I could do that".
I think most kids would need to regress to be able to write like Kerouac.

(Yeah that's right, I went there.)

Not sure if serious.
Likely troll account quoting a random Crowy post from August. Hmm....

I like stream of consciousness speed freak writing, Lester Bangs is another good example of it.

All you people having problems with getting parcels delivered, I never seem to have any trouble  Ordered something on Friday and they said to expect it in 3-5 business days - it arrived this morning :thumbsu: Ordered something else yesterday which is meant to arrive on Wednesday, so will see if that arrives on time.

I lost half a day at work not that long ago because our internet crashed.
Bigpond went down on me for a few hours on the first day of semester one year, all my stock control, tills, the whole lot rendered useless. If you planned for a worst case scenario, this was it.

Yeah that sounds like hell.

Almost becoming a weekly thing here now.
Very frustrating.
Yeah, know the feeling. Our work ended up giving Telstra the heave-ho after it kept happening and our internet speed was piss poor; since changing over, no more problems.
