Apparently.
So quick google and there's little information on it - Austadiums says 3,000. Though I think that might be doubtful. I think South Pine will be fine for the games against the Bulldogs & Giants. Although if South Pine only has a capacity of 1,500 I reckon they might want to consider utilising Burpengary for the Collingwood game if they can.

That crowd was amazing. 1500 people at Brendale will be a bit underwhelming in comparison.

Are there grand stands at the Brendale ground?

Wont be anywhere as big as it was down there. It is still a second rate sport and then a female version. Also being the first ever game would have had the draw card of 'i was there' and being part of bigger clubs.

Dont get me wrong, i think overall it will be very successful. The turn out to the practise game is evidence of that. But we are a bit off needing decent stadiums for them. If anything the smaller local ground feel will probably help.

Hopefully the game grows to the point that every club has a team and they can just piggy back the draw off the mens and play as curtain raisers.

Definitely agree it wouldn't draw 25k ... but 1500 will not hold it I don't think.

If 22 players each have 50 family and friends turn up for their debut (which is fairly realistic) then that's over 1,000 supporters without even factoring in Lions supporters, other female players, interested observers etc.

Yeah. Planning to get there early, but dragging the kids along might become a trial if the heat keeps up.

Could they move it to Yeronga? Is that any bigger?

Last comment i heard on her was that it was that she was racing the clock for round 1. So probably not surprising to have a fitness test. Hope she plays, wanna see the new twin towers in action.

Why haven't we got a game day thread?

It's blowing a gale down this way now, will be tough. Rain is coming down.

We will use the preview thread this week. Feel free to start one in the future if one isn't already up :thumbsu:

Thanks. It's a real slog out there, the weather is bloody miserable, tipping a lot of the crowd will be going home. Rapt that so many have turned out though. We were going to go, then realised we might not get a seat anywhere, and us being oldies, we have to think of those things nowo_O

Tayla is gorgeous, such a lovely open happy face.

Interestingly we play the other Round 1 losers in the next three weeks. Could be a great chance to grab a couple more wins.

Surelt it is best to just to have a unified Preview/Game Day/Autopsy thread for AFLW games at this stage I reckon. Not quite enough discussion to justify three separate threads.

I wonder what will happen in regards to the Women's home ground into the future, as south pine is probably too small as it is (3K). I've always been keen about a return of footy to the Brisbane Showgrounds and I reckon it would be perfect for the lions girls.

Airport hopefully.

I suspect there is a little bit of time to sort that out.

While we will see good crowds the first few matches I suspect that after the initial rush the club would be more than happy with 3,000 for a couple of years, building steadily to 5+ or so from there
