Dead man walking basically. He's lost the players unfortunately. Can hear it in his voice post JLT Vs Richmond. If the crowds drop below 20s which I suspect they might I'll honestly be surprised if he's still here after June.

It's a shame I really like the bloke. I'm not sure what the board expects. When they used bang on about having good support behind new coaches after the Primus circus you'd think they would ensure that Richo and Walsh's replacements were ready made assistants. Not the failed ones we have now.
What was the point of Lade as well? Lade has already publically said he wants Trengrove, Lobbe and Ryder all in the same side. WTF and his bright idea to move Trengrove forward midway through his career? Ken's under pressure so they poach a failed assistant from Richmond.. and leave Voss in charge of our mids who are shells of their former selves.. We literally have 3-4 mids and all of them have gone backwards.
The look on Ken's face says it all. images.jpg

Remember 2013 when we beat Sydney and Collingwood back to back ??

I liked that team.

In my mind's eye I can still see a 21 year old Cam O'Shea patrolling up and down the wing in that Collingwood game looking like he was the next Chad Cornes or something.

Where did it all go so horribly wrong?

Yeh what happened to iur vaunted midfield
Boak Ollie Ebert Polec Robbie Gray Chad and Broadbent rotating through
How does that group not dominate let alone stagnate??
Oh well at least we are great at effortless F50 entries to set up marks in front if goal
Wait... We suck at this too

Well how are our kickouts tactics and clearances from the D50 then?

Suck here too

Midfield defence and forward line all
looking lost last year

Cant keep blaming the players

I haven't been able to see any of the pre season games but from what i have read and also my own personal assumptions i feel the below.

- we have played St kilda and Richmond - 2 teams which it seems are taking the JLT very seriously.
- we have played the alot of younger players who will struggle to play round 1 in key positions (SPP, Atley, Drew) so were not full strength (please correct me if im wrong)

Id like to think with less injuries and Ryder back we will improve on last year and win 2-3 more games (and not lose to Brisbane and Carlton) which should put us just in the 8.

Still think there is general coaching and skill issues, but for an under performing team we were a kick away from Bulldogs and Westcoast at home with key players out, there has to be some improvement.

Don't forget Harlett. He was supposed to be part of that rotation as well!

If Westhoff/Hartlett have a stinker JLT3 I think it would be a brilliant statement by Ken to not select them for R1. I don't want to hear the bs about not keeping players based on past performances I want to see it from round 1.

With the injury/suspensions, he's safe on a HBF round 1. R2 on the other hand...he better do something R1.

Can we leave that crap to Crows supporters? for all his faults I remember a particular tough, hard and brave knock he took in a final that others would've shirked.

Sorry all his piss poor efforts over his entire career at Port Adelaide on great money are all forgotten because he took a hit in the final. Hartless is good for one or 2 "tough man" moments a game and then retreats back to to being as flacid as my **** when I see Sarah Hanson young. Hartless toughness is as fake as cotchins. Hartless is a very fair nickname. I'm waiting for him to prove me wrong

Clearly all the great things he's done are forgotten by you just because he was poor last year. I agree with Jimmy, have your opinion, but no need to call him that.

Great things?

I remember the following.

2009: 50m worm burner in the Tredrea game
2012: Carlton game
2013: Essendon long bomb
2014: Collingwood game, Richmond final
2015: Hawthorn first quarter

Compared to all the shanks and invisible games, he's got a lot of work to do.

Most people who put minimal effort and perform badly in their job 90℅ of the time AND are being paid over 500k probably don't have a job.

Don't get me wrong, he's hugely disappointing right now, and yes far overpaid for output. Doesn't make him Hartless.

I agree if he's bad in R1, drop (sack) for R2. Amongst about 5-10 others!

Yea he's not on his Pat Malone & certainly not the only underperformer on good coin either, I don't buy that our players don't bring effort there's been too many down in the last two years & these blokes work hard on the track.. there's more to it

Hartless is hardly over the top.

Hartlett is well on track to becoming another in a long line of Port Adelaide footballers this century to fall well short of his potential.

He's certainly not heartless in the sense that he's weak. He'll put his head over the ball when it's his turn. But in terms of putting his team on his shoulders and dragging them over the line, it's a very rare occurance. It's staggering for someone of his talent that he so rarely has a genuine gamechanging impact in a win.

I don't blame him though, I blame the club. The ONLY talented player that we've drafted post 2000 who has gotten into his prime as a bonafide superstar of the competition is Robbie Gray. Wingard may get there, and Boak has hit those heights but certainly not consistently, but so far it's just Robbie. Not living up to your potential is a very Port Adelaide thing to do in the modern era.

I'm too scared to click "Show Ignored Content" to see who you two are responding to but I agree, for all his under-performing I'd not call Hartlett "hartless". I'm certain Steve Morris would agree.
