I think it's the other way around, C means the captain is yet to play.

In tragics league my opponent and I both had Fyfe who's played as captain and we have the C showing. In another match someone with Sloane who's played as captain doesn't have the C and his opponent who has JJK who hasn't played yet has the C. There's no rule to it so I think it's just bugged this year.
