If the club does the right thing (and you know it will) they will be setting Jaeger up to have a 10 year career with us.
Just like they did with Burgers.

What is the rush people? It's not like we are going to win anything this year.

That at least opens the door for a new nick name for him ..... Peg Leg!

Ha! That actually made me laugh out loud. That would be almost the crappiest nickname he could get, I think.

If Jaeger has a 10 year career at Hawthorn then I don't think you will hear anyone complain.

It's a shame for Gibbo, then, that he's only played seven for us.

Jaeger trade Bombs.

My position is I think he will be ok but I am trapped in this position where I can see why people are worried as well and then......... cue O'Meara kool aiders responses. Am not going to bite any more as as Abasi posted I am getting dizzy.

I want him to play some games at box hill to get his confidence back and hopefully starts running with and without the ball

Imho I don't think its a confidence thing its about getting his body in A1 condition after not playing the game for 2 years
And also it has been said previously the risk is too great on below par grounds

Wasnt limping at the player sponsor night. I have no doubt Hawthorn have a plan and he is sticking to it and will return soon enough.

In 3 months all this fuss will be long forgotten.

Very true...

But instead we traded them for someone who can't even get on the park...

Should have taken those magic beans...

Seriously though like previously stated I'm not saying we shouldn't have picked him up, but I do stand by my saying that we paid way too high a price...

Obviously time will tell if he's going to come good but even if he does we still payed massive overs which is undeniably true...

Anyway let's hope that the club doesn't play him until he's 110% because there's no point playing him otherwise...
I think it is pretty clear we just don't rate draft picks highly. I appreciate why supporters would and if omeara can't stay on the park then any price is too high from an absolutists point of view. From what I understand of the club, it would view the probability of getting a talent equal or better than omeara from the picks we used less than getting omeara. We won flags because our very best players were some of the greatest to have played the game. When games were on the line, hodge, Mitchell, rioli, Burgoyne and roughy were all thrown into the middle. What I believe the purpose of trading for omeara was the biggest chance of obtaining a player capable of emulating that kind of impact. These players are rare and the club obviously felt it could sacrifice a few foot soldiers (the likely outcome of all those picks) for a champion you can build a premiership side. Just have to wait and see how it goes but even cherry picking most drafts you don't find those kind of special players easily.

Edit: apologies, I didn't realise the age of the post I responded to. Wasn't trying to single out Cyriliffic or restart an old argument!
