Stats shmats. Stats have Jesse White and Leigh Brown neck and neck over their careers, but which one was regarded as a vital cog and which is a whipping boy? And what separated the two?

Darling falls in the White category for me. Obviously a much better player, but a pea heart who wouldn't have the fortitude to play as a CHF like you're suggesting. 3rd tall is his go, and I don't think that's what we need right now.

He also has one of the best forwards in the game playing FF and a lot of smaller players around him that kick goals. I think he'd struggle in our forward line imo.

Really not a fan of Darling. Doesn't strike me as the type of player capable of being a genuine CHF either. Lacks the required competitiveness imo.

People are bringing up Jack Darlings name as a joke... right?

Darling would be a great fit for us. He averages around the two goals a game mark and is good for 40 goals a season. He is a smart lead and competes well in the air. And his follow up ground work is excellent. He'd compliment Moore and provide a mature foil for him.

Darling is a 3rd tall forward and Moore is a 2nd tall forward... we're still missing the #1.

I disagree. You're underrating both those blokes. Moore will be much better than a sidekick. And Darling is very very good. Darling a choker aye? Ben Reids a shit kick too right? It's amazing what a dropped chest mark does to peoples perceptions.

Tom Lynch (Gold Coast) is on my radar. I have a feeling about him leaving Gold Coast. The club is a shambles with no future beyond 2020.

Would make Collingwood more potent up forward, he can kick straight and takes pack marks for fun. I could see him and Darcy Moore being the best key position combination in league football for 6 years minimum presuming we sign him before 2020.

I'd rather pay an extra 300k and get Lynch or May rather than Darling.

It's been done before, but rumour is Lynch said no to an offer from Collingwood last off-season so not sure he's an option. If he was I agree.

I also think May is better player and agree on that as a preference over Darling.

Although if you go back to the start of the Darling trade discussion you might get some context around the hypothetical circumstances for that trade to be possible.

Lynch would be an epic coup! Less convinced he's a chance to leave, or at least come to us.

We give up to much.. what's the net gain? Free agency and good drafting, good player development and maximizing returns on peripheral players through trades are the ways we strengthen our list. Trading out good players to bring in good players has no net benefit. Just robbing Peter to pay Paul.

A KPD who is 8-9/10 for a mid that might get to that level is an easy call. Where it gets more difficult is whether the young mid is the main currency. For instance if it's JDG and a pick 30+ then happy days, but if it's JDG and our first round pick, no.

Give them Sidebottom/De Goey+Pick 7+Jack Crisp/Levi Greenwood, idc as long as we don't lose our absolute core group of players they can have whatever they want for Lynch.

Like most people I would assume Lynch had high hopes for GC in 2017.. another disaster season could easily have him reconsidering his future.

S Reid currently in his prime.....that worries me.

Unless we get him for peanuts, I wouldn't touch the guy. He is ordinary. He's actually done nothing in his career. Maybe 2 or 3 games where he has kicked goals, but overall, he is an ordinary footballer. Can't see how this is going to change coming to the Pies.

Given that Moore is already on the list and I would back him in to become a star then the club needs to find his support act. If you're in the camp that the club needs to go the full rebuild then going to the draft is the best option. I'm of the opinion that the list is pretty much ready with the exception of a couple of holes, a key forward being one of them. Sam Reid will not be a star but at a minimum I believe he is a solid role player. As a KPF he should be able to offer at least 30 goals a season. From my perspective that's all the club needs, think Dawes in 2010-11.

Given the impending CBA I think anything under 600,000 would be perfectly fine for a player of Reid's calibre considering the structural importance of the role he would be recruited to play.

But is he the sort of player that Moore needs beside him? Or is it more of 'bull' type that is a workforce and hits a pack hard? I think S Reid is fragile and relatively soft. I don't think he will add anymore than what White already does.
