Hardest you've cheered in a match your team wasn't playing in*

Geelong v Hawthorn PF in 2013. I still hold Varcoe responsible.

I think you might find Mr Burgoyne had a much larger responsibility for that than pea heart Varcoe did.

Melbourne against Dogs last round in 1987 to get Robert Flower into his first finals series in the final year of his career.
Nothing has come close to that.

Of course at the same time I am barracked even harder for my own team to win to finish on top of ladder.
Kernahan kicked goal after the siren to seal it.
Most amazing round of footballer ever.

Hawks in 08 GF.
The first time i really sat down and analysed a game.
Remember being half way through my sandwich and thinking the Hawks had them match up wise.

Crows yesterday comes close. Got a lot of mates who are dees fans.

Probably a Swans game, as they've been a lifelong second team. There is the 1996 PF, that 1999 early round game against North Melbourne, all those heart-stopping thrillers in the early Channel Ten days, the 2005 SF, 2010 finals series, the 2012 GF, etc. In a few instances I've supported Fremantle, Melbourne and (recently) GWS to beat them, but generally only the Eagles stands between me and the Swans.

That said, 2001 GF was a case where I hated Essendon and loved the Lions. But after half-time I had to go to a sleepover birthday, and other than listening to some of the fourth quarter on car radio, I missed the bulk of the second half and didn't know the result until the next morning. 2013 GF would have been similar, but I would have felt sad for Hawthorn if they came away from 2011-13 without a flag to show for it.

2002 Qualifying Final win by Collingwood, 2000 Qualifying Final win by Melbourne, Port's 2013 finals run, Adelaide's 2009 finals run, Freo in Sirengate (I was outraged!), etc. are other cases which stand out.

One of worst games umpired ever.
Criminal what happened.

You're not thinking of 91 where we got like 5 frees in the last 2 mins and Rocket Rod Jameson goaled after the siren ?

Maybe. Cannot remember exact year but was around this era I remember watching it and about only time nearly believed umpires actually paid to help get Crows over the line..

2016 First Preliminary Final - WB v GWS.

Closely followed by 2014 Elimination Final - NM v Ess for the lols.

Can't really split 2 different ones:

(1) Dogs in last year's grand final - breaking the drought
(2) Geelong in the 2007 grand final - breaking the other drought. My mate and I watched it in Warren Tredrea's pub - the 2 of us and 1 other guy were pretty much the only people in there cheering for Geelong. By the 2nd half, we were the only people in there cheering at all :P

No reason to state that varcoe is pea hearted... The week off helped the hawks come back in the last quarter

Lol yep, it was only the week off that did it :thumbsu: that must make it easier for you to sleep at night.

I also wish Varcoe had left the ball for Mitch Duncan to mark, who was standing in the forward fifty by himself!

ED: Burgers was pretty amazing that night... One of about three times I can recall Enright making a mistake

The 1997 Grand Final for the Adelaide Crows against St Kilda.

The 2001 Grand Final for the Brisbane Lions against Essendon.

The 2005 Grand Final for the Sydney Swans against West Coast.

The 1999 Grand Final.

And last years Prelim with the Doggies - man that was a cracker!

For me it was last year's GF. Living here the Bulldog mania rubbed off on me, I bought into the fairytale, and really wanted them to break their drought. Really don't care for the Swans either. They're one of the Melbourne teams I don't mind so much, partly because I've made the scray my home. The prelim against GWS nearly as much.

t!

everybody bought into that stupid flipping fairy tale... opposition supporters, cab drivers, umpires...

not me I stood strong... bet u all regret that shit now.
