I'd consider any player if they gave us any first rounder, but we need to stop dreaming of such deals.

Papparone is another nice guy who I'd like to see succeed but he's no good. He isn't a very natural footballer. He doesn't know where or how to run and as a forward he struggles to know when to peel off his man or when to hit a contest; usually makes the wrong choice or does neither and ball watches. I guess that's why he got some games in the backline. For a big boy he isn't physical at all which is probably a result of him being a pretty gentle human. His kicking action is maybe the most annoying thing to watch as well – just looks bad but every single time you just wonder why he wasn't smothered.

Sounds like a great candidate for a RTB make over.

His skills, ability and endurance are there just needs a better More defined role maybe

Don't think it's a simple answer.
Depends on how good our list/cap management is. If we have 500k free cap available for the next 3 years then why not. It's a free pick out of thin air.
May be possible since we are cleaning out the list and majority of our list are younger player who still does not command high salary.

That said, It won't happen. The cap size just increased after the collective deal. The salary cap management must be really shot for any club to even start considering that.
And this is Collingwood we are talking about. Even if it's true, I'm sure Eddie would rather argue day and night with Gil about Cap and stuff than to give up pick 6 like that.

That said, I reserve the rights to continue to poke fun at them

Just because they didn't like what Mayne has brought won't result in the proposed idea taking place. Not in 1 million years.

Although $500k a year sounds like a lot, it really isn't and again just wouldn't happen.

Sweet, sweet schadenfreude, plus as someone has already pointed out, this is revenge for Tarrant, schadenfreude squared. We won't be doing the Pies any favours, they are not very nice at the trade table. If they give us a sweetarse deal that is too good to turn down, then maybe, but I wouldn't be paying 100% of Mayne's wage. Maybe if they offered to pay 60% plus a second round pick or something, even then I just have flashbacks of the momentum that was killed by those missed goals.

I agree with you. You also strengthen your case with what you say. If Collingwood needed to free up cap space by offloading Mayne and pick 6 for some token later Freo picks they'd be robbing Peter to pay Paul, or otherwise giving up important pawns in the chess set. That is they would have nothing left to trade for Josh Kelly and the AFL brought in that rule about using two first round pick in a four year period so they would cause potential issues for future years and haven't they give up a few 1st rounders in recent years for the likes of Treloar and Adams.

Pardon the pun but this is 'Pie in the sky stuff'. Like ole Gerard Whately and his big rumour about Mitch McGovetn to Freo and then his bro the year after; he gave himself big hand on that one. This is Loersch's summary from his year in the NEAFL, he missed a few games through injury. He was being played almost purely as a fwd whereas we'd play him more in the ruck where he is naturally suited imo

2. NEAFL Kicked a goal but wasn’t able to have a great impact in attack. -
3 NEAFL Proved too big at strong in attack with seven marks and 3.3 against Redland. -
4 NEAFL Kicked two goals and provided a tall marking target in attack. Okay. -
6 NEAFL Best game so far this season with four goals. Tried to keep the Suns in the contest. -
7 NEAFL Booted a goal and had a few other opportunities, but didn’t have a massive outing. -
8 NEAFL Booted two goals and provided a bit of a marking target in attack. -
11 NEAFL Back after a week off and was too big for the Sharks defence. Booted four goals. -
15 NEAFL Too big and strong for Aspley defence. Booted seven goals and is in great touch. -
16 NEAFL Kicked a goal, but was unable to make the most of the Suns 47 entries. -

Kicked at least 1 goal in every game this year, and finished with 25 goals in 9 games. I know the NEAFL isn't great but still relatively good stats, would come over on a rookie contract too

For Logue? No. But if we used that pick to get a dead set gun or even trade it to get one then I'd find it worth it.

If the pies coughed up pick 6 or their first rounder next year to us we could just employ Mayne as a pure depth/WAFL player. We could use him as someone who sets training standards or 2-3 years. I don't think a single person here is assuming he gets above 3 games each year in this scenario. We have the cap space, it'd be worth asking about. I don't see that as a bad thing. Worst case, nothing comes to fruition.

IF we get Mayne back and the club publicly stated he was still in our plans to be best 22, that'd be time to cause a Vesuvius level melt down.
