Except that isn't a thing. Tex got to call the toss in our game.
Isn’t it? Maybe they stuffed that up too?

11.1 CHOICE OF GOAL
The end of the Playing Surface to which a Team shall play shall be decided by the toss of a coin as follows:
(a) the field Umpire (or such other person approved by the Controlling Body) shall toss the coin;
(b) before the coin is tossed, the captain of the away Team shall call “the fall of the coin”;
(c) the captain of the Team who wins the toss of the coin shall choose the end to which their Team shall play in the first quarter; and
(d) at the conclusion of each quarter, the Teams shall change ends.

This is a massive, Chris Scott-level excuse.

One of Geelong's three home grounds is the MCG. They played 2 home games there this year, 5 in total. Geelong fans had just as much access to the game as Richmond fans, they just don't have as many fans. Big deal.

Geelong played like garbage and the ground had very little to do with it. Having a big whinge about their 'home ground advantage' is just that: having a big whinge. How about Geelong supporters complain about the insipid effort by their players? Nah, can't do that, because not playing at Simonds is a bigger issue.

The fact is they finished 2nd, they played at their home ground, and it's just bad luck they played a team who also has the MCG as their home ground. If they wanted to have a stronger advantage, maybe they should have finished higher so they played GWS instead.
I heard this morning that Geelong have only ever played one final at Kadina, so why is it an issue now?

Can't believe so many are getting sucked into the pro Geelong AFL media pushing the Geelong were ripped off angle.

FFS they already play some HOME games at the MCG during the season.

Round 6 home v Collingwood at the MCG - oh my god won't someone think of the children.

Round 17 home v Hawthorn at the MCG - it happened again!!! As it has for the last 50 years ffs.

Once again it highlights the ineptitude of the AFL media that they don't call out this double standard.

Happy to get the large crowds for home and away games but want the small ground for finals.

The GWS president was just on ABC, and was questioned about whether they are underachieving with all the talent on their list. Had the audacity to say "adelaide have 2 players in Crouch and Walker who should have been first rounders" 2!, who should have! Ahahaha

Has powell-puffa got a Crows coloured mouth guard in....??

Probably time to give them a priority pick.

I think most of the indigenous boys have that mouth guard, it’s black yellow and red.

On the Geelong/MCG thing... I think it is very fair for them as is. They get the advantage the non-Victorian teams have of a genuine home ground advantage in many of their games, unlike any other Victorian teams.

They travel interstate as little as any other Victorian team, so don't get the disadvantage us non-Victorian clubs have in that regard.

And all they have to give up is playing finals at the bigger of their home grounds? they have the best of both worlds all year and it's probably what has them finishing in the 8 and towards the top of it so consistently in the first place.

If they got everything they wanted they would have what, 11 games in Geelong (plus all home finals), 6 at the MCG/Etihad and 5 interstate (the number of times they left this year)? That's a huge advantage.

**** me, if Jenkins is ruining football then the Selwoods are the cancer of football. I detest them as duckballers. And the stupid ******* campaigner umps that fall for their shit.
I watched Scott Selwood get a free kick for a high tackle last night. Watching in slow motion you can see that his first instinct when he's about to be tackled is to dip his shoulder and crouch slightly to force the tackle high.

He's done it that many times now that he doesn't even have to think about it. Dropping down is his body's automatic response to someone coming to tackle him. It's pretty disgusting.

I also saw Joel Selwood perform an uppercut in a game earlier this year to get a tackle to slide high.

What is most annoying is Selwood is a great player. However I only ever think of him as a blight on the game. The Supreme Ruler of Duckball. One of my top 3 most hated players ever in 38 years of watching footy.

Maybe check youself into the "things I got wrong" thread again mate ;)

chris scott looked rattled in his press conference.
I actually really like Chris Scott's pressers. He never shies away from a question, he's pretty straightforward in acknowledging failures and he gives nuanced, thoughtful answers. I don't really understand why he attracts so much vitriol.
