Why do people keep suggesting trading out our young players that haven't matured and will therefore be under value for shitty value picks that amount to nothing, for players at ground zero who posters would float for trade in another two years time?

The carousel of stupidity never stops.

Are you talking about Phillips?

If so, what if a team offered us a future second?

Phillips is worth a back end first or high end second for me. I'd want it in the 2018 draft. Having said that he is of too much value to lose. His coming along great. Crocker is a good leader and with some more weight and another year, he will become a really strong marking utility with nice size. I'd put him down back to get some defensive pressure and to learn off some other forwards for a few games at the start of next season. His a lovely kick as well.

Don't really rate Phillips so wouldn't be too perturbed to see him depart if he's asking too much.

Get serious, his a kid with lots of talent 2 years into his career. Has more upside than Fas IMO.

I'm not seeing that much upside. Shows some potential but nowhere near Fas yet.

He shows promise, especially the endurance side and it's becoming more important in certain roles.

I'd be more concerned about losing his running if he had more impact and was accountable.

I like Philips, Smith and Crocker I think showed a bit last year. Aish I'm not so fond of but he's been around a while. That said I'd give him another year to straighten out and get the conservative out of his game.

Thought Phillips had some really good moments this year. Would be very unhappy to lose him for anything less than an early 2nd. Which realistically we wouldn't get.
Very much doubt he will leave though.

Why do you rate Smith so highly? I always considered him a conservative kick in the same vain Aish and Scharenberg were this year. And something I know you're critical of both those guys for.

Smith to me is another Kyle Martin. Good State League Player but Not Really a AFL Player

Not really. He's capable at AFL level if given time and space and has had some really good games. Martin on the other hand didn't really do much at all to prove he was capable at senior level in his admittedly limited opportunities.

If Derek's list has 6 or more players on it that they'd be really stoked to get @ pick 6, then they have to use the pick. (And that's even though Derek etc haven't had the best few years. ) If they don't have 6 players who are pick 6 worthy, then consider other possibilities.

I don't mind Smith. He's alright. He wins a lot of footy and is pretty safe by foot. But he lacks weapons to make him really damaging. So I consider him useful depth rather than best 22.

Would like to see us get 3 picks inside 30 in this draft with one before 15, another around 20.
Brisbane obviously with their picks 12 and 18 would be ideal.

6 and Smith for 12 and 18
18 and Fas for WC picks 13 and 30

Would give us 12, 13 and 30.
Offload pick 13 and 30 to GC for 22,24 and 37

Leaves us in total
Out - pick 6 and Fas
Ins - picks 12,22,24 and 37

I've heard this year is a pretty weak draft. We should try and get a few early picks next year as it's meant to be a stronger draft.

We'd get another kid like Philips who would hopefully mature into a player like Philips except said player would be outside the age bracket we need - unlike Philips.

I'd hope for a player with more potential than Phillips.

That's exactly what we need - more C graders on our list. Good decision ... not.

I thought he was a chance of being delisted
You do realize there are "C" graders on every list, that can play an important role to the team. The 4 preliminary finalists have some "C" graders playing a role this weekend.
