Where does our premiership cup rate amongst other world cups?

The WW part also spins.

HELL YEAH!

I think our Cup stands up quite nicely. Here some other nice traditional Cups.

My old boss's neighbour used to make the Melbourne Cup, or at least the main part of it before they add a few other pieces. Maybe he still does it, dunno, only a few people in the country who can do it apparently. Gold spinning/beating by hand, sort of like clay modelling with metal. Had to make a new Cup every year (and smaller replica), to exact specifications, and not go stealing any gold.

Ugh. It is the World Cup Trophy. The World Cup is the tournament.

Ugh. The competition was named after the original trophy.

Jules Rimet Trophy

Replica of the Jules Rimet Trophy awarded to winners Uruguay in 1930

The Jules Rimet Trophy was the original prize for winning the Football World Cup. Originally called "Victory", but generally known simply as the World Cup or Coupe du Monde, it was officially renamed in 1946 to honour the FIFA President Jules Rimet who in 1929 passed a vote to initiate the competition. Designed by Abel Lafleur and made of solid gold on a blue base of lapis lazuli, it stood 35 centimetres (14 in) high and weighed 3.8 kilograms (8.4 lb).[1] It comprised an octagonal cup, supported by a winged figure representing Nike, the ancient Greek goddess of victory.

Followed by the soccer World Cup trophy

Some rugby ones are good too, I like that Ellis Webb one

Ours is absolutely terrific. Manages to look modern and traditional at the same time, and has done for 50 odd years. It should never be changed.

I also love the FA Cup, and generally the cup style trophies. The Stanley Cup with all it's tradition is terrific, but as another poster alluded to, what happens in 100 years when the cup is 14 feet tall?

The Ashes Urn is the most ridiculous looking trophy in world sport, like something from Monty Python or Spinal Tap.
However, when you consider it's history and origins, it's actually the best trophy.

The Ashes urn is actually not the official trophy of the Ashes.

The trophy on the right is.

AFL Premierships are so hard to win because of the evenness of the comp.
I'd put it ahead of pretty much any soccer trophy where titles are pretty much bought and paid for.
There's a top echelon of trophies like the NFL, NBA, Stanley Cup, Gaelic All Ireland championship up with the AFL due to the difficulty and competitiveness of the competition.

Well said - a fact often overlooked. Leicester City blue moon incidents aside, titles like the EPL just go to the teams that can buy the best players. Nice achievement.

Nothing wrong with the AFL Premiership Cup. I like the World Series Baseball Trophy...Best of 7 you truly earn it. Often wondered what a best of 3 AFL Grand Final would look like.

Best of 3, Home, Away, and a neutral venue. Wouldn't be good for footy, footy is always about the "best team on the day".

= once every 3 years?
Looking at the list of EPL champions again, it looks like the last 17 of the last 20 titles have been shared between Arsenal, Manchester United, and Chelsea. Manchester City won a couple of titles by buying good players (so I've read) and Leicester's title was considered one of the biggest outliers in world sport.
