I though drafting O'Reilly is a positive but to some people is a negative, using a rookie spot on Blair bell or Darcy Cameron as project player is a positive rather than negative . Sydney in fact extended DC contract to 2019.

My point being you'd rather just a whole stack of project players and then would site the few that come good.
Last year I recall you were massive on Cameron, Keitel and Shaw. All 3 are spuds.
Matera can play. Yet you'd probably rather Millward.
Anyway, I'm actually happy to get Matera.

I've actually been a bit underwhelmed watching Kelly. Think he could go ok, but I liked the way Pickett moved more from Souths and to a lesser degree Parker.

I mean you just have to really remember the level drop off. Mzungu, DeBoer, Clancee Pearce all killed WAFL when they played. Stiffs like Masten and Wellingham get 30+ touches regularly when they go back.

I remember thinking Kyal Horsely was the best player I'd ever seen to not play AFL. He then got drafted to Gold Coast and did stuff all.

Players like Barlow and Podsiadly are the extreme exceptions to the norm when entering the AFL.

Cameron and Keital yes but Shaw I am against it , since you voice out my negativity, , I will post less about Matera as you are affected by my posting . I actually think he can score 30+ goal with a better delivery and forward structure . If mike91 ask me a question , is normal I reply what I think rather than sugarcoat my reply .

TBH I think millward is a spud , will definitely go for Ian milera or Sambono at 58.

Nobody from Freo has done that in the last decade except Pavlich.

That's the reality of playing for a Ross Lyon coached side. You don't score many goals. There's no reason to believe Matera could replicate his 2 goals a game here under a much more defensive game plan/

I don't buy that completely.

We had the worst attack in the league this year and our efficiency sucked badly.

I'm not saying he'd score two goals a game for 22 games. That's close to AA form. He's a better goal sneak than Crozier though.

It's hard to sneak goals from the half back line.

That is the reason I hope croz go to another team , is hard to identify a problem when both in the same team, if croz perform better in another team than Matera , there is some forward structure problem with Freo rather than Croz.

Nothing more frustrating then watching a player like Walters get the ball on center wing, turn and go 'there's no one to kick to'.

If IF Lyon could allow Matera to be a stay at home small forward he could easily kick 25+ in a season.

Really not sure how our forward set up will work but we sure as hell need to leave a couple back. Kersten probably deepest forward. McCarthy roaming. Hopefully Taberner as the workhorse. Walters and Matera at their feet and Ballas slipping over all over the place. Not sure on Cox, but maybe he also roams and clunks them inside 50m,

That's the million dollar question meimia. Shame Ross, after many years, still can't figure out how to kick the ball to the advantage of the forwards.

I think it is great that they have found a role for at other clubs. But their form this year shows that they didn't suddenly become superstars somewhere else.

Brady grey score 10 in 14 match with 2 match going out in the first quarter injured from memory. 20 should be pretty easy for Matera .

I actually think croz and grey did reasonably well this year consider their situation , come in without playing any JLT and replace Suban and D.pearce on the run and provide few win with the team. As role players they did their part.

I think meima raises a valid point: Will Matera actually help us kick more goals? Is he an upgrade on Crozier? Is it Lyon's game plan which is holding us back?

Just because a postie is harsh e.g. SA, Salim and Banker doesn't mean they don't care. We need to respect Meima.

Fwiw I think Matera is the kind of player we need. Had a bit of mongrel in him. Also quite handy around goals.

The guy is a deadset elite talent as well, unfortunately we don't exactly have the medical team to get him consistently on the field.

GC is an attacking team but with a a leaking defense. They score goal fast but so are they leaking goal , hall, even ablett only run one way for GC,Very Freo Harvey like team.

In a different situation those two players could have stayed on our list no doubt. But thems the breaks when a club goes into rebuild. The heartbreaking thing is that they were both terrific clubmen, and Mzungu should be included in that, and probably Silver too.
