Traded Bryce Gibbs [traded to Adelaide] - (cont. in Part 2)

Putting aside the bickering for one moment, what do we actually think is going on?

Do Adelaide still want Gibbs?

Does Gibbs still want to return to Adelaide?
Word is he was spotted talking to Crows officials after his season finished up. That, coupled with changing managers a few months ago to Tom Petroro would tell the story I'd say. Why else would he get a better manager with 2 years to run on his current contract?

I would think Adelaide does want Gibbs, it might be happening behind the scenes so there is no media circus like last year.

Carlton would like to hold on to him for sure with Rockliff and Smith not coming.

I think the price will be too high for him to move to Adelaide
Honestly I think if Gibbs wants to go a trade will get done and there is a possibility we might need a third or forth club to get involved.

I'd take 16 and 27 from Melbourne with our 38 going back to Adelaide, but that would also depend on what else Melbourne send you blokes.

That is the problem though and the reason that it won’t happen.

Carlton want 2 x firsts or maybe a first and second

Adelaide offered a first and a third last year, that was their final offer.

I can’t see Adelaide offering more when Gibbs is now a year older.

Carlton would be thinking, if we get a great price for Gibbs then he can go but if not we are really happy to keep him.

Adelaide would be thinking, this is our maximum price, if we get him great but if we don’t we will look at other trades.

If it doesn’t happen this year then Carlton will definitely get nothing for him, he will have another year to run on his contract in 2019 and then if his body is still holding up then Adelaide get him for nothing

I think the offer last year was a 1st and a swap of ypur 3rd for our 4th which was negligible.

You are right that we would get nothing for Gibbs in two years but remember he still loves the club and if we are heading up the ladder he may wish to be a part of that.

I thought Reid and Bryce’s manager both said it was a first and third which they thought was fair value. Either way it’s not enough to satisfy Carlton.

I have no doubt he loves playing for Carlton, you could see that this year. If he had a bad year then it would look like it caused an issue for him but he had 1 of his best years.

I would like him at Adelaide but only for 16 and 52.

Can't see a problem with Adelaide offering more than last year actually it may help quell the upheaval finals failure and losing two quality youngsters is not good .
The Gibbs name has more than face value for their predicament.
He's age is insignificant Bryce's dad played good footy untill mid 30s.

Not sure what Bryce’s Dad has to do with anything. If you could guarantee the Bryce could play good footy to 35 then that would work, but you can’t.

I wouldn’t really call our FINALS campaign a failure either. We lost the grand final but beat 2 extremely good sides to get there.

Anyway before it gets into a slinging match again, the price will be too high and won’t happen

Because he let his ego and emotions get in the way (in response to Reid''s initial misstep).

As you can tell from this thread, it's all about SOS.

Whereas It should have been all about what's a win-win deal for the two clubs.

This should have been do-able because the two clubs are in opposite situations. CFC needs to rebuild, AFC needs to top up a good list. Should've been as easy win-win.

So clueless. Amusing.

Squibbs worth two first round picks? Lol Carlton very easy to deal with.

Understand you’re just trying to get a reaction which is all fun & games but Carlton have proven to be good to deal with. We gave up Tuohy for peanuts to get other deals done & we got involved to break the O’Meara deadlock when we didn’t really need to.

We asked for much more than Gibbs is worth but as a contracted player that is our right. Essendon will likely ask for more than Francis is worth.

Gibbs is definitely not worth 2 first round picks. Everyone knows that.

Did he? SOS was very clear from the outset - Gibbs was a required player, with a long contract, whose loss would be deemed significantly disruptive to what Carlton were trying to achieve; hence, the only way he’d be released from that obligation is if something compelling was on the table. And no bones about it, pick 15-ish and a third rounder was not “compelling” in anyone’s books, no matter how fair you consider it. The rest is just chatter.

If this is how the Crows feel, then just put the cue in the rack and focus on their other problems I reckon.

Never gonna happen.
True.

Didn't say it would or could happen just my opinion on his worth.

Again, worth when your contracted and not contracted are two entirely different things.

Adelaide staged a media ambush to poach a contracted senior player in the hopes that Carlton's other deal would hold up and they'd have to buckle. Win/win has nothing to do with it.

I expect we want him but I also expect SOS to stick to his guns. I predict nothing to play out in public and no deal done.

Good player. But don't think is worth more than one highish first rounder.

Understand picks are overrated, but don't think it's wise to pay too much.

No trade will be done until OOC imo.

When does the carlton rebuild start? Or has it already?

Docherty, Cripps, Petrevski-Seton, Weitering, Curnow, Marchbank, Plowman, Williamson, McKay, Silvagni, Fisher, Cuningham, Pickett.

Significant time and investment into each of those guys. All will be best 22 by 2019. Add Kennedy and pick 3 to that lot.

But we're not rebuilding because we didn't trade one of our only 2 good senior mids and because we protected some guys by playing the likes of Thomas, Rowe and White...just incredible logic

Anything over pick 30 would be overs for fat boy Francis
